They welded plate to it at the port and delayed the return by two days. Passengers were given the option to fly home or extend their vacations. . Homosassa Posted June 6, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 6, 2017 A major hurricane did hit and destroyed the pier. The pier was rebuilt.

auscgguysgirl Posted June 6, 2017 #15 Share Posted June 6, 2017 Hopefully, your luck will be better than ours. Both times we were scheduled to stop in Costa Maya the weather was too choppy and we couldn't port. Ended up w/ an extra sea day both cruises. Such is life. Sandy Sails Posted June 6, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 6, 2017 The one time I was there, we weren't able to leave until the next morning because the wind was pushing the ship against the pier and they couldn't push away. They had to wait for the wind to die down. So it's not technically a tender port but ships aren't always able to dock there (or leave).
bUU Posted June 6, 2017 #17 Share Posted June 6, 2017 It's a really long pier.It sure looks it. I suppose if you arrive back at the port from an excursion 15 minutes before the ship sets sail, you still might not make it. :)

cruzeluver Posted June 6, 2017 #19 Share Posted June 6, 2017 We were scheduled to be in Costa Maya this past February. Had to skip as it was not safe to dock. You could see the waves crashing over the pier.
