I am Lulu Posted June 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I have searched this and cannot find the answer. Will my 13" MacBook Pro, fit in the cabin safe on the Noordam? TIA Linda
RuthC Posted June 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I very much doubt it. The door just isn't that big, even if the inside were. It might fit in the larger safe of the Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, or Koningsdam, but not the older ships.

I'd say the safe is 10-11" opening by 8-9" deep and 5" high. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was thinking standing up, on the diagonal, but even then it would be tight. In any case, the MacBook won't fit in the smaller safe on the Noordam (which was the ship in question). Rare POA1 Posted June 9, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I carry a security cable that goes into the K-slot of my PC. They're about $15 and allow you to lock the machine around a post or desk leg. There's something similar available for Mac books, but I think it's closer to $50 because the retina MacBooks don't have a built in slot. You need a special bracket and the locking cable. Rare Scrapnana Posted June 9, 2017 #11 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I usually travel with two iPads and one of them is always sitting on the desk. Never had a problem.
blizzardboy Posted June 9, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I leave my laptop (fingerprint sign-on) on the desk from day one to disembarkation. The crews are vetted and also know if caught stealing they'll never work on any line again.
Rare kazu Posted June 9, 2017 #13 Share Posted June 9, 2017 Just to add, the first time I took my ipad I asked if it were safe to leave out and I was assured it was. Mine never goes in the safe and it has been a non issue. You can also slip it into a drawer if you prefer not to leave it "sitting out".
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 9, 2017 #14 Share Posted June 9, 2017 When I used to take my laptop, I always put it in a drawer whenever we left the room. I have read here where a couple of people had cameras that were left out in the cabin were taken. I would rather be safe than sorry.

Rare rafinmd Posted June 9, 2017 #19 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I have lost a couple of things (GPS, camera) in my cabin only to be found by my steward(ess) when he or she vacuumed. I never worry about leaving my IPAD or laptop in the cabin. Roy
donaldsc Posted June 9, 2017 #20 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I have searched this and cannot find the answer. Will my 13" MacBook Pro, fit in the cabin safe on the Noordam?TIA Linda Just leave it out. I travel with maybe $6000 or $7000 worth of computer, photo and electronic, and optical equipment. Everything stays out and nothing has ever been touched. I will add however that everything is insured for full replacement value just in case. DON
cb at sea Posted June 9, 2017 #21 Share Posted June 9, 2017 Lock it in your empty suitcase, if you feel it needs to be locked away! We just put stuff "out of sight" in a drawer or closet.

dpump Posted June 9, 2017 #23 Share Posted June 9, 2017 We always leave our iPads, etc out and have never had any issues. These folks can't get very far if they do steal from the customers and I'm sure they're worried about having to 'walk the gangplank' if caught.
