Ship Casino Blackjack Payouts

6:5 blackjack is a significant change (increase) in the house advantage for the game. It is a game that I won't play. Ever. And most of the casinos on the Strip in Las Vegas have done this for their low limit games. It's not a good game. Avoid.

If you are playing blackjack for entertainment like I do then don't worry. That 6:5 payout still has a lower house edge than 3 card poker and roulette. My preferred cruise lines have 3:2 payouts but if they introduced 6:5 I would reduce my minimum stake and/or play less hands.

When I sailed Norwegian Getaway in January their $6 min tables were 6:5 and the $25 min tables were 3:2. They had 1 or 2 $15 min tables but I never sat there to know what the payout was.

Did you mean $5 min table rather than $6? It the minimum were truly $6, you would then have to bet a minimum of $10 to get the true 6:5 payout.

$6 min on the table - whether that be a $6 bet or a $5 bet AND $1 side bet on lucky ladies.

Last cruise (Royal), last August, all tables were 6 to 5.

And has been mentioned, if you play a table with a $6 minimum, they short the payout, by paying $7 on a $6 bet, instead of the correct $7.20.

So the payout is 7 to 6 (1.1667 times), versus 6 to 5 (1.2 times).

I've given up blackjack unless there is a 3-2 payoff for blackjack.  They already have an edge with the 6-5 payoff it just makes it worse.  Let the beginners play.  sorry I don't need to lose my money that bad.  Played at Kings Casino in Antigua they have 3-2 odds for blackjack.

Good for us UK cruisers, both my favourite cruise lines  (P&O and Marella) have 3:2 pay out and hand shuffle, usually 6 decks. Low minimum bets as well. They are tiny casinos though, a roulette table, 2 or 3 card tables and  some slots. few serious gamblers aboard, in over 40 cruises I have rarely met anyone who can play a good game. OK for relaxation for an hour or so in the evenings. I tried Norwegian Epic, the $15 tables were 3:2 and I found a hand shuffled one as the continuous shuffler had broken down. On Epic there was only one player all week who did not know basic strategy.
