shipgeeks Posted July 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2017 How far is Salem, Mass. from the port of Boston? Is there transportation? I read that there is an excellent Ocean Liner exhibit currently on display in Salem.
Rare 1025cruise Posted July 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 4, 2017 The only transportation to Salem is the commuter rail. Depending on when you are going to be in, it might be tough.
VidaNaPraia Posted July 4, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Yes, it's a great little exhibit. Lots of beautiful classic posters, costumes, china, ship models, ephemera, interactive computer images of various areas on a ship, interior details and furniture (deck chair from the Titanic, for one example)---even someone playing a piano from one of the ships. You can take the commuter rail or the ferry. http://mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/rail/ http://www.bostonharborcruises.com/salem-ferry/salem-ferry#schedules-and-rates
Nitemare Posted July 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2017 There's also a ferry, if you don't mind taking another boat ride. It is mostly for commuters, so the schedule might not be optimal, but it will be more fun than the commuter train
4774Papa Posted July 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2017 There is a wonderful museum in Salem. It has nothing to do with witches, which has exhibits of art and interesting stuff from China.
