DoctorRN Posted July 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2017 Hi, I just wondered if anyone is aware of whether there are any special benefits for people who book the Royal Suite on Independence? I know you get access to the Concierge lounge and other normal suite amenities, but are there any other benefits that you do not get in other suites? Clarea Posted July 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2017 I have read that Royal Suite guests get escorted on the ship by the Concierge.

adamdiane Posted July 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 7, 2017 I have read that Royal Suite guests get escorted on the ship by the Concierge. Yes, you get escorted both on and off the ship. You may also find an additional bottle of champagne (moet) in the room and various canapes throughout the cruise. You have a private hot tub on the balcony and an automatic baby grande piano. If the room is ready before 1pm and you have already boarded, the concierge will escort you to the room. Felix Vargas was the concierge in April but was due to go on vacation shortly afterwards. He was lovely, helpful, professional and attentive. Let me know if you would like some pictures of the suite. Adam. Jetdriver787 Posted July 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2017 We travelled East to West across the Atlantic in 2012, and West to East in 2013 in the Royal suite on Indy. The main difference of course is the huge amount of space. If you want to throw a party in the suite it is very easy to do as you have plenty of lounge space and a bar. The concierge was very attentive and made sure we felt very pampered. There was rarely a day that went by (26 in all) when some treat or other didn't arrive in the suite. Sometimes there was a bit of noise from the deck above (Chops) as chairs were being moved after closing time, but it was a fantastic experience and one I would do again in a heartbeat. Last year we experienced the inaugural roll out of the "star class" Genie programme on Ovation of the seas, but without doubt the Royal suite experience is as good as it gets on the smaller ships. Thanks for the information. Is the bar in the Royal Suite stocked, or are drinks etc? Sent from my D6603 using Forums mobile app
Clarea Posted July 11, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Thanks for the information. Is the bar in the Royal Suite stocked, or are drinks etc? Not stocked with alcoholic drinks. However, on Oasis and Quantum class, the RS is a Star Class suite, and guests get a free Deluxe Beverage package, and the Genie will make cocktails for the guests. adamdiane Posted October 8, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 8, 2017 Do you get to have dinner with the Captain or Chief Engineer? We had dinner with the Staff Captain one evening - I'm not sure if this was because we were in the Royal Suite or just because we were in the concierge lounge every night! We have stayed in Royal Suites on other ships and not had dinner with the Captain or other officer. Adam
Colorado Babe Posted October 8, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 8, 2017 When we had an Os and our friends had RS on Indy they also received a chocolate covered piano they placed on the piano. It was really cool. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
