We board Reflection on April 12/19.

Any buzz around the ship as to who will take over for Eddy as Cruise Director?

I would also be grateful for any information on Eddy's replacement as I will be on the 22nd April transatlantic crossing. I'm very sorry to learn that Eddy will not be onboard with us.

From a cruiser on Equinox:

" Capt. Kate’s vacation schedule, 3/30/19-6/8/19 vacation 6/8/19-8/17/19- on the Equinox 8/19/19-9/30/19- on the Edge."

Another one posted she will be back on Edge in mid December.

Arno, you might want to check the other “Who’s on Board” thread, it is now the last one listed under “Friends of Cruise Critic” on boards.cruisecritic.com.  Katie

Please post a link to the thread you are referring to.  I have tried to find it, and not worth the effort.  Thanks Arno, I'll follow you.  Pat

Anybody know who is the captains club and Michaels club host/hostess currently on the Silhouette?  Sailing on her tomorrow.  Also does the captain still have special guest dinners on formal night?  Or has this become a paid actitvity?

Rose is the Captain's Club hostess.

Friends of ours had dinner with an officer (not the Captain but someone high up) and they were invited - didn't pay.

B2B on the Edge and after 62 Celebrity Cruises absolutely nothing from Celebrity except the very brief recognition of our #1 status.  Dinners with the Senior staff is only available to those fortunate enough to purchase a suite or perhaps drop thousands in the casino. When they took our picture the Captain was in such a hurry that he didn't wait for us to get the flowers and wine.

Not the wonderful Celebrity of the quite recent past.

Many have reported the same on Edge. The Top Cruiser dinner has been largely eliminated from all ships. The Zenith lunch in Blu has been largely replaced by a lunch for Suites only. I guess past loyalty only represents past revenue and that's of little interest to Corporate. Lesson: Cruise because you like to cruise and not be expecting extras as in the past.

Well I do like the free drinks, free laundry and free internet that comes with being Zenith. The problem seems to be that Celebrity wish they had never granted these perks. Oh yes, I was told by senior management in Miami that the cheap upgrades to suites were not part of the marketing department and was entirely handled by the "Revenue Department".

We boarded on March 10th, and there was a slight change.  The Hotel Director is now Clint Kelu.

Read this right after I made up the chart.... Thank you for the update.

I read from another thread Retreat Sundeck where the bar is located is off limit to Zenith members.

Can you please confirm?

Zenith members are not good enough to use the Retreat Deck and the bar is on the Retreat deck.  Wine and drinks are available in the Retreat Lounge.

Hmmm. after spending so much of our saving and been so loyal to the cruise line.It really give me a second toughs for my next booking.

Guess still not to late to change.I only had 2 on RCCL, 1 on NCL and 36 on Celebrity.

To me a bar without a bar counter is not for me.I like to watch the Bar tenders make my drink.

Btw. on all my cruises taken,I haven't use the pool or the Sun bathing deck once.

Solstice - Capt Tasos is on vacation and Lewis Power Stannard is CD [Lauren Vaitkus was filling in for Rich Spacey who left Celebrity]

Anyone know if Richard Spacey went to another cruise company? I cruised many times with him on Royal Caribbean and once on Celebrity. I have a cruise on Equinox and one on Solstice soon and had hoped he might be cd on one of them.

As to Zeniths feeling they are not treated well enough, I get this, we as humans always want more.  That said,  we live in the Land of the Free and we can all go on other cruise lines and make our own choices.  The Zenith benefits are quite comprehensive and if you ask me, its a bit of a golden collar as other cruiselines are just not the same and don't give as much.  Complaining about it repeatedly.....is just a waste of time...Loyalty knows their passengers all want "More Free" to reward their loyalty.....Same with airlines and hotel loyalty programs.   With prices rising on everything, we are lucky they don't "Cut back" benefits.....Think about that.

Getting Back on Topic:  Regarding who is on what ship, I often find that the months of April/May are high transition months for the cruise industry staff/crew.  I cannot tell you how many cruises we have been on thinking.....omg, we know him, look forward to seeing him again....only to get onboard for a transatlantic or post transatlantic to find out they left in either Lauderdale or Rome/London/Barcelona etc.  With so many employees from all around the world, it is impossible to say who is going to be anywhere at any given time.....you may have the schedule....but alas...it changes with the wind.   So don't base your cruise enjoyment on this....nothing is ever set in stone.

Safe Sails to all!

Let me preface with we're not Zenith and don't ever expect to be.

I'm just happy with the internet minutes and laundry I get for being Elite Plus.

That said, they DID cut back benefits. On the M and S class ships Zeniths could go to Michael's Club (the suite lounge) for drinks and entertainment. Now on the Edge they can no longer go to that lounge.

I would imagine the bad taste that leaves is far more important than the actual fact of not being allowed in the lounge.

I could be wrong, but I believe Zeniths can go to the Retreat Lounge.  But, I believe the Retreat Deck and pool is reserved for suite guests. 😊

??????????

So "the bar" they're referring to is NOT the Retreat Lounge? (Michael's Club renamed)
