Mgugs46 Posted July 28, 2017 Author #26 Share Posted July 28, 2017 A few years ago we flew out of Toronto to Venice on a Friday night to pick up a cruise on Saturday (sound familiar?) no weather issues in T.O., but a storm over the Atlantic forced the flight to refuel in Shannon. We were two hours late landing in Venice (arrived at 11:30) and we were on board by 1:15. But I was panicking all night long!!! Won't do it again. OP awesome that you were able to get switched! Sent from my iPhone using Forums Funny you should mention this, as we just unexpectedly landed in Shannon Ireland as a passenger was sick. Fun times. Hopefully we will actually get to Venice some time soon :')

waterbug123 Posted July 29, 2017 #29 Share Posted July 29, 2017 Don't worry. First of all, rain doesn't usually shut an airport down unless there are really heavy winds. Although rain will cause delays, it does not stop flights. Rain won't stop flights, but if there is lightning the ramp will be closed and without ramp workers, you won't be able to board and/or take off. Also, if a delay (any delay) is long enough, your crew might time out, which means they either need to find an alternate crew or your flight could be delayed until the following day. If that happens, the flight isn't technically canceled but for your purposes it might as well be.
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted July 29, 2017 #30 Share Posted July 29, 2017 We were traveling home by car from a vacation yesterday. The weather was CRAZY. You are so lucky you got your flight changed. Have a good cruise.
