shykitten Posted July 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Bought ours at port (wish I had known ahead of time). Spent hours last cruise getting new ones recoded. Phones and magnetic money clips will deactivate. I probably missed a sticky note for this. DonnaK Posted July 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2017 No need. No lanyard for me. Sea Pass fits nicely in my pocket.
fpcruiser Posted July 31, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2017 I always bring a lanyard. I don't carry a purse around on the cruise and my pockets don't always work well for the seapass. I have had the card work its way out once.
setsail Posted July 31, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Never carried a phone or money clip around on the ship, neither will buy a drink or open your cabin door
north29 Posted July 31, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2017 I always use a lanyard, but I get the lanyards from Hobby Lobby. they are small, thin and light weight with a zipper in the back which will hold a CC or yes cash. It fits around the neck easily and and does not add bulk worn under a shirt. It also works as a small wallet for evening wear.
biomedbob Posted July 31, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Have only been on 95 cruises and have never understood ladies with purses big enough to steal the ham out of the windjammer. There is no cash exchanged (other than casino) so we have our landyards on and they will fit inside our formalware or other clothing and we can go swiming or whatever. Rare shipshape sam Posted July 31, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2017 We too have lanyards and don't carry our phones once we sail away and out of service. Take a vacation. :)
Milwaukee Eight Posted July 31, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Watch out for the Lanyard Police..... why they hate others to wear them is beyond me. Maybe they don't want the Gold cards to be put in the front of the tender line or hold up the disembarkation line so they can get off first, or go to the front of the line at GS??;p:')

karena1 Posted July 31, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Hubby's goes in his pocket....mine in a small purse...no need for a lanyard! I know lots of people like them, but I don't want something hanging around my neck all the time or having something that big to carry around. Hubby keeps his in his pockets and I have a tiny shoulder strap Royal Caribbean pouch that I use for some cash and my Seapass cards. Works perfect for us. Milwaukee Eight Posted July 31, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 31, 2017 LOL. I am not gold, but there are many who scorn lanyards. Its not Gold level C&A but a Gold Seapass card. Why do they scorn them?

alfaeric Posted July 31, 2017 #16 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Me too. Hate looking like a tourist Just want to point out- the Lanyard isn't the big tip off that you are a tourist. Figured you would want to know that.
Doug S Posted July 31, 2017 #17 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Me too. Hate looking like a tourist Uh, you're surrounded by a big cruise ship... that screams tourist and no lanyard is going to change that. I'm not gonna waste time as a tourist worrying about whether some other tourist thinks I look more like a tourist than they do. Unless you are ship's crew the tourist tag comes with the ship, not the lanyard. I bring a lanyard from home and it is super convenient since it easily snaps off the strap to pay for drinks or unlock cabin door, and I can pocket just the card and smallish clip on formal nights where it is more appropriate since it might clash with my tie. DW and I never get ours mixed up anymore when sneaking out of the cabin for an early morning coffee, and we've not lost one or had one mag-wiped since we started using lanyards. So to each his/her own. FYI, some small clutch purses have a magnetic latch on them. Pre-lanyard days DW wiped out several cards on one cruise before we finally realized her fancy little Coach purse was the culprit.

scurrymd Posted August 1, 2017 #19 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Will they punch a hole in your Seapass if you bring your own lanyard? We're bringing my GD and I'd like to get her a Vera Bradley one that matches her bags.

Biker19 Posted August 1, 2017 #22 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Yes, guest relations desk has a hole punch. which they are unlikely to use if you are on Quantum class or Harmony since punching a hole in one of those cards in the wrong spot will make them useless. Pancake16 Posted August 1, 2017 #24 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Not to muddy the water, but I use a "retractable clip" for my out-of-sight, not around the neck, my clothes don't have pockets carry of the SeaPass. I had one with a previous employer's logo on it (we had to wear badges at eye level (lanyards or pinned to shirt)). I purchased a set of 4 non-logo clips from an office supply store when we took our tweenagers on a cruise. It was perfect for everyone!:D
