watergal Posted December 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2005 As a first time 'user' I'm hoping I get this right! I have a Med cruise booked next year with Celebrity and as I have a portside cabin booked, am wondering if this is the side to be on when sailing from Venice to Barcelona. Any tips from you knowledgeable folks out there? Watergal.
Cour10ay Posted December 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2005 Hi Watergal - You will LOVE that cruise! Now to answer your Port/Starboard side question, it depends on if you want to see only the sea, or if you want to catch glimpses of the coast as you sail. You will sail south out of Venice, meaning the Starboard (right) side is towards Italy, Port (left) will be facing Croatia etc. As I recall from sailing that, you really mostly see sea once outside of Venice no matter which side your room is on. Now going around the boot of Italy up towards Barcelona, it will depend on your ports of call. If you are stopping in Naples, Rome, Florence, or Nice the shore views from the Starboard side will be lovely. Nice is particularly beautiful at sailaway in the evening. Hope this helps! Aussie Gal Posted December 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2005 watergal, Sailing out of Venice you will be on the side of St. Marks which is the side I would prefer when leaving Venice. Other than that it depends on where you are going. Jennie
Wendy The Wanderer Posted December 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 3, 2005 It also depends if you have a balcony. If not, it doesn't much matter, since you'll most likely be out on deck watching the sights go by.
rogfam Posted December 3, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 3, 2005 Watergal, forget about port/starboard.....go up to the bar, have a drink and watch the sights from there!
