NSWP Posted June 2, 2021 #6226 Share Posted June 2, 2021 (edited) A nice pie from Trappers in Goulburn, covid free I hope as the bakery is on the covid exposure list from a visit by a Victorian last week. Trappers also own Braidwood Bakery, you Canberrans would know about that place, halfway stop between Canberra and Batemans Bay on ye olde Kings Highway, a gold mine. Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted June 2, 2021 #6229 Share Posted June 2, 2021 We stopped at Trappers for coffee on our big trip earlier this year. It was a bit early for us for pies but we tried their pastries. The chocolate croissant I had was the best I've ever had in Australia, and it was huge.

ilikeanswers Posted June 5, 2021 #6235 Share Posted June 5, 2021 (edited) Watched that 4 corners thing about Crown Casino turns out James Packer and Alan Jones favourite food is pies and mash😂. Barry O'Farrel let the team down apparently wouldn't touch the pies. Maybe it didn't go with his wine😜. Blackduck59 Posted June 6, 2021 #6241 Share Posted June 6, 2021 So on a tangent topic, more related to sausage roll day which passed unacknowledged by me a few days ago. As it turns out it was a very late lunch today, we went to Spitfire grill, I enjoyed "roast beef sliders" mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef and gravy. Lynn had a spinach salad and we both had their excellent seafood chowder. After such a large lunch Lynn just had some bread and butter. I bought some sausage rolls at the market we stopped at after lunch. They were delicious for a very light supper. We also bought some meat pies at the same place, we haven't tried them yet I will report back after we do. On a side note we were in the butcher shop next door and they had some pies in the case. I don't think they were even 100 mm in diameter and they were priced at $9.50 (clearly someone has a high opinion of their own product).

Always frozen ones or from bakery.

Our neighbour made some a couple of weeks ago and brought a few over for us. Home made are usually much nicer than bought ones. Leigh

I use sheet puff pastry. 1 Kg of mince to 4-5 sheets of pastry. There are stacks of recipes on google, although I must admit I tend to make mine up as I go. For just a normal SR, I usually add finely diced onion, finely chopped fresh parsley, garlic to your taste, 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs, 1 beaten egg, 2 tablespoons tomato sauce/ketchup. Seasoning. Mix all ingredients together. Leigh Edited June 7, 2021 by possum52
