maxx Posted December 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2005 I will be REALLY angry if it blows and ruins my cruise! Hopefully it won't happen but it would be an awesome sight.
Kiwi Kruzer Posted December 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2005 I wonder how far this is from Vanuata and if it might effect cruises to the area in the near future...? Here is a link to a map of Vanuatu. The island of Ambae, which is being evacuated looks like it is in between Pentecost and Espiritu Santo. http://www.mapsouthpacific.com/vanuatu/
Whoey Posted December 6, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted December 6, 2005 Thanks for the map! it doesn't look to be all that far from Vila and or Luganville... do P&O cruises go to any of those other islands in the same area?
Druke I Posted December 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 6, 2005 Back in 9-00, on Sky Princess (now Pacific Sky) we stopped at Rabual, and a volcano there at the port was smoking mightily. Ship passed out surgical masks to all passengers, and put up special filters on the air intakes on the funnel, to keep the smoke/dust out of the ship's system. Next port was Vila, Vanuatu, but no volcanoes erupting there, then.
