scomar Posted September 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2017 So in my search for the exact location of a specific cabin, Cranival's deck plan for the Magic does not depict the correct location and number of life boats. When you compare an actual picture of the Magic, it shows 9 life boats on each side. http://www.cruisemapper.com/images/ships/681-large-1595af6435015c77a7149e92a551338e.jpg But the deck plans shows 15 life boats on each side. https://www.carnival.com/~/media/Images/Ships/MC/DeckPlans/carnival-magic-Deck-Plan-pdf.ashx I had to take the photo and count the windows/balconies to determine the cabin I wanted instead of relying on the deck plans since the my quest was for a cove balcony that did not have a life boat over it. Does anyone know of any reasoning why Carnival deck plans would not show the correct number and location of the life boats? As far as I can tell the rest of the deck plan is accurate. meatloafsfan Posted September 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2017 Deck plans show all available life boats and rafts. The rafts are those barrels you see next to and in between the boats. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk
scomar Posted September 25, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted September 25, 2017 Thanks for the info! That makes sense they would be required to show all life boat and rafts, but would think they could symbolize the rafts (Canisters) separate from the life boats to be a bit more accurate. Showing the canisters not taking as much room as a life boat when stored on the side of the ship.
aka-texas Posted September 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2017 FYI. There is a thread on here somewhere that lists the cove balconies w/o lifeboats. DO the search engine and you should be able to pull it up. We were in a cove with a lifeboat above and it really didn't seem to affect anything. You are recessed anyway so you will have something above you.
GaHawkeye Posted September 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Just off Magic last Sunday. We were in Cabin 2284 and friends were in 2280. No life boats above us. Hope this helps. Hank Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Because it's close enough for government work.
