cmptrwiz Posted September 27, 2017 #26 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I'd love a 7 day no ports sea days only! My DW not so much. She loves the ports and the shopping. I love the sea days relaxing, hanging out and "cabin time!" Maybe that's why she enjoys shopping more!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
RWolver672 Posted September 27, 2017 #27 Share Posted September 27, 2017 YESSSSS...at a small discount LOL Not that it will ever happen but if it was possible, they could discount it heavily. Think about it. They wouldn't have to pay port charges to dock and they could keep the casino and the shops open as long as they were out to sea. evandbob Posted September 27, 2017 #28 Share Posted September 27, 2017 If it left from Hawaii and ended in Tahiti, Fiji, New Zealand or Australia, I would certainly consider it.
Bookworm1985 Posted September 27, 2017 #29 Share Posted September 27, 2017 Yes!!! we went on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii, and we had 4 sea days there and 4 back and I LOVED it!
dmdiver Posted September 27, 2017 #30 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I would consider if the ship had plenty to do and if the price was much lower than usual.
DKane Posted September 27, 2017 #31 Share Posted September 27, 2017 In light of the devastation to some carribean islands, if they offered you a 7 day "At Sea" cruise, would you take it ? I would be happy to stay docked (for free, of course), if all amenities were available.
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted September 27, 2017 #32 Share Posted September 27, 2017 Blondie419g- We don't get off the ship at ports any longer, but still being docked everything pretty much is closed even the casino, the reason why I want to miss ports. ;)
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted September 27, 2017 #33 Share Posted September 27, 2017 No. After two consecutive sea days (which I do enjoy) I need a port day. Three consecutive sea days makes me unhappy.
Ocean Dancer Posted September 27, 2017 #34 Share Posted September 27, 2017 Unless this was out of Vancouver or Barbados, this can't be done, unless its extremely last minute. Would I book a cruise with no ports of call? I don't think so. Going to different places is one reason why we cruise. Just hopeful our October cruise has some semblance of an Eastern Caribbean cruise. First time ever sailing Eastern, and we're booked for Western in April. Yes it can be done and is done all the time. I've done "Cruises to Nowhere" out of NYC, Norfolk and Baltimore. They are usually only for the weekend, don't think a few more days would matter. Also have seen them from Florida and Seattle. h_blond2 Posted September 27, 2017 #35 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I love sea days, but I don't think I could do 7 of them in a row.
Shmoo here Posted September 27, 2017 #36 Share Posted September 27, 2017 Yes it can be done and is done all the time. I've done "Cruises to Nowhere" out of NYC, Norfolk and Baltimore. They are usually only for the weekend, don't think a few more days would matter. Also have seen them from Florida and Seattle. Alas, "cruise to nowhere" is no longer allowed. If it's a foreign-flagged ship, it has to make at least one foreign port stop.
Anthomaniac Posted September 27, 2017 #37 Share Posted September 27, 2017 for foreign flagged ships sailing out of US ports, they must have at least one port of call outside the US. iirc...
SMSACE6 Posted September 27, 2017 #38 Share Posted September 27, 2017 there are things I like about sea days, like sea day brunch on Carnival! as well as having the full day to roam the ship, do whatever; not having the need to disembark. However; I have in recent years, come to enjoy very much port days, especially in ports where I have been many times, and have no desire to get off. I love the near empty ship. Enjoy the ship till later in the afternoon the crowds return. It is so nice to not have to deal with long lines for food, or service at bars etc. So no, unless the cruise to nowhere came at a very big discount, or a very good solo rate and other perks, I would not want to book one of these. Slugsta Posted September 27, 2017 #39 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I would certainly book one of these if the price was right - as long as I knew the deal from the start. I would be very disappointed if I booked expecting to visit ports and they were all cancelled!
cb at sea Posted September 27, 2017 #40 Share Posted September 27, 2017 Nope...sea days are way too crowded. I love it when others leave the ship, and I have more space to myself!
Beachdude Posted September 27, 2017 #41 Share Posted September 27, 2017 Probably. Unless the crew turned their back for a few moments while I smuggled some booze on board, then definitely yes. Oh I have the drink package, I just like living on the edge now and then. Burt

sail7seas Posted September 27, 2017 #43 Share Posted September 27, 2017 YESSSSS...at a small discount LOL What do mean b y offered? Do you mean offered to sell us? Or give us? :D If I did not have to fly VERY far, if the per diem was within reason of same perdiem we usually pay. Then Yes, I likely would go

Shmoo here Posted September 28, 2017 #45 Share Posted September 28, 2017 please please make this happen... As noted previously, any foreign-flagged ship departing/returning to a US port must make at least one foreign port stop on any cruise. A 7 night "cruise to nowhere" isn't legal. cruzincurt Posted September 28, 2017 #46 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Absolutely. But the casino might be a challenge. Sent from my B3-A30 using Forums mobile app
Rare Hlitner Posted September 28, 2017 #47 Share Posted September 28, 2017 2 years ago we were on a 14 day Celebrity Eclipse Caribbean cruise that went to 8 ports. We did not even bother getting off the ship at the first 7 ports, so it was on our 11th cruise day (St Maarten) that DW and I actually got off the ship for about 15 minutes to purchase some booze. So you ask me about a 7 day cruise to nowhere? Sign us up :). Hank
navybankerteacher Posted September 28, 2017 #48 Share Posted September 28, 2017 QM2 TA's are great - I do not believe "cruises to nowhere" are offered any more.
new_cruiser Posted September 28, 2017 #49 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Ocean crossings often have more than 7 days with no ports. I'm booked on a Windstar Pacific crossing that has 3 ports at the beginning and then no ports for 8+ days. (+ because crossing the date line adds most of another day.) They have Atlantic crossings that are 13 to 14 days with no intermediate ports. The ocean crossing cost a lot less per night than the other cruises. My previous cruises have been all about the ports so this will be a different experience for me.
NMLady Posted September 28, 2017 #50 Share Posted September 28, 2017 In light of the devastation to some carribean islands, if they offered you a 7 day "At Sea" cruise, would you take it ? Definitely!! Sea days are our favorites. We've done several ta's because of several sea days in a row. We liked HAL's San Diego rt Hawaii because of the number of seadays. We chose our Panama Canal itinerary next April because of the number of sea days. For us, 7 days at sea with no ports would be perfect!
