November 1st Cruise Stop in St. Croix

St. Croix replaced St. Thomas for a November 1, 2017 port call on the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam.. Based on the information I am seeing on this forum and the fact that this is the only stop for which Holland America has not published shore excursions, I am beginning to believe that we may not be able to stop in St. Croix.

I found a new source for information on a news source called the VI Consortium, They are posting daily updates on water, power and restoration updates:

The consortium reported today that the governor says th ports in the territory will open on November 11 for cruise ships and that he will have more info next week. That doesn't bode well for your November 1 call on st. Croix

The Consortium is our most trusted local news source, good choice. I hope you are able to stop here, we are working hard to make it accessible and fun for visitors again.

We are scheduled to dock here on Nov 11. We are on the Norwegian Dawn. We just got our revised itinerary last night. We have only been here once. Thinking of making this day a beach day.

We are also on this cruise...thinking the same thing

We were too, but a front page article "Protect Yourself and Your Family" in today's VIConsortium.com had the following excerpt...

Protect yourself from mosquitoes

Use EPA-approved repellent that contains oil of lemon eucalyptus, Picaridin, IR3535, or DEET...

Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants.

The Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) advises the public to be cautious when using the coastal waters throughout the territory until further notice. There may be an elevated health risk to anyone swimming in storm water-impacted areas as a result of increased concentrations of bacteria.

People should also be aware that stormwater runoff due to hurricanes and tropical storms may also contain contaminants or pollutants harmful to human health due to storm debris. Areas of stormwater runoff, such as puddles and drainage basins, should be avoided.

...will check the advisory as date draws closer, but beach day may not pan out :(

November 1, 2017 stop in St. Croix by the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam has been canceled and replaced with Amber Cover, DR. St. Croix was a replacement port for St. Thomas.

Drake- Thank you for your advice. We hope to travel to St. Croix in the future.

Sadly, it seems unlikely any cruise ship will be making a port stop in St. Croix for the next couple of months. :(

Frederiksted gets better everyday and the governor keeps repeating November 11th as the first day of cruise season. We will do our best to be ready for you!

We will be on that first cruise into St Croix on the 11th. So looking forward to seeing the island. How are things at the port area? Many people on the cruise are asking what will be open and will there be anything to do. Do you have any insight I can pass along?

Getting better all the time! Beaches are coming back and debris are being cleaned up. Tap Deck is open right across from the pier, YamYam is open one block inland, lots of little bars along King Street, N2theBlue and Adventures in Diving are both operating. Further north Rhythms is running full tilt on generator power and their beach gets better every day. To the south Sandcastle is back up to strength with the Bar, Restaurant, and Pool all nicely cleaned up and operating, their beach is pretty accessible right now as well.

Went into Christiansted on Sunday and was happy to see that most of the boardwalk is back up and running with all the bars and restaurants trying their best. Also got to see that Big Beards has resumed snorkel trips to Buck Island, which is wonderful news!

Please come enjoy the island, we will be glad to have you!

-Drake
