We had a reservation at Sheraton OSJ for November 17, everyone I spoke to told me that our reservation was still ok, but I spoke to someone at the actual hotel 2 days ago who told me that all reservations are cancelled until January.

Thank you. Just checked online and it shows both of our reservations still -that said, I do not trust ANY hotel reservations right now. It’s almost ‘why call? What you are told could likely, and does change overnight. That’s JMHO. And I am not by nature a half glass full person.

We are now working with our airline to see what options we might have - but CLEARLY, San Juan is not ready nor able to truly accommodate the influx of cruise passengers pre and post cruise that are coming in. Not a criticism- at all. Just a fact.

Hotel El Convento cancelled on me for Nov. 8-11th. I only found out because others commented on their FB. I called and sure enough I was cancelled. I had booked through Hotwire and they said they were never notified. Once Hotwire spoke to the hotel they found out that El Convento is cancelling everyone for November. I'm not sure if this is true for everyone or just third party bookings.

We stayed at the Coral by the Sea last night right near the airport and just 2 blocks to the beach. Could not check in until 3 PM because the generators are off for two hours in the afternoon and from 2 to 4 AM. We have AC and running water ( hot water too) although some have said the hot water is spotty. The elevator worked yesterday. we are on the fourth floor but it's not working today so getting our four big bags down the stairs will be interesting 😐 Not the best hotel but they covered all the basics. The restaurant right next-door is great for breakfast lunch or dinner. We went to Chili's last night just two blocks away and felt safe but would not be walking around the area after dark. We have only used bottled water because we don't trust the water supply, which was validated by one of the FEMA workers. Wish I had brought some bleach wipes but other than that all is well. Heading to the ship soon. :)

The main electricity source in Old San Juan HAS NOT been restored. El Convento is waiting for electricity before it can reopen for guests. I asked about generators power and was told it isn't an option. They are hoping for electricity to be restored by the end of this week.

Ok it’s 9:52 and I just found out that the Marriott casino just cancelled my reservation for tomorrow. Only because the ship called. They have not notified me

Were you the folks who learned about the cancellation while in Michael's Club last night?

We left the Summit this morning, and I am posting from our room in the El Convento. The hotel seems to be generating their own power, and also has water (including hot). Air conditioning in our room works well, both restaurants are open, the elevator is functioning and the Internet fast. Lovely boutique hotel. We are staying for three nights and had booked directly with the hotel. I do see a number of US Coast Guard personnel who are staying here.

Therein lies the problem. No one can really count on their reservations holding because there is no power, and no one knows if the generators being used will be working or not. So while El Convento was supposedly a good go-to hotel a few days ago, it now no longer is. I am sure they are all hoping for electricity next week....hoping is what everyone is doing for any hotel reservations right now holding - it is not that the Hotels are wanting to cancel, it is just the situation.....

Actually, we are the folks from Alaska, and we were one of the few who didn't have to scramble for reservations (but we were checking and double checking on the status of the El Convento). We had booked the El Convento (which we checked into earlier today) a number of months ago.

The folks I am concerned about are the two couples who are from Conneticut (or at least one couple is from there) who were traveling together. We were one of the last folks to leave Michael's Club this morning. We left with the two guys who work for Marriott who tried to help last night. When we left one of those couples was still sitting there trying to make a decision as what to do.

Starting to worry that we may not have a room on 11/17. I emailed AC I will include their response. I’m hoping that they will be up and running by 11/17/17.

Hi Pat! The AC Hotel San Juan is with minimal phone/systems service at this time. Please email the on-property Reservations team directly at reservations@achotelsj.com regarding your reservation and they will reply to you as soon as possible. Just make sure you include your reservation number and full name in which you're booked under. Thank you, and have a wonderful day!

AC canceled our reservation three days before we were due to arrive saying that the hotel was closed to leisure guests. You may want to make a back up reservation.

I had two rooms booked, one direct and one hotwire for 11/2 & 11/3. They called me Monday night to confirm my reservation and when I asked about the second one (hotwire) I was told it had been cancelled. Reservations claimed they "emailed" hotwire (aka Expedia) to notify them. The CS at Hotwire had no idea and called the hotel for me. The hotel claims that due to the lack of power (generator only) they chose to honor direct bookings only. I find this suspicious as I confirmed both reservations 2 weeks prior and was told they were fine. Then my sister was able to get a direct reservation just last week at the regular rate. I think they cancelled the cheaper rates (third party) knowing they could resell the rooms. We were able to work something out getting my two 24 year olds in a larger room. I feel that the hotel should have made the effort to contact everyone whose reservation they were cancelling.

The Casa Blanca Hotel ... it looks interesting. Why are there tubs on the roof? Are they working tubs?

It is an amazing hotel full of character, I can't wait to go back once things are back to normal! They are soaking tubs that you fill just like a bathtub. You can choose the temp, althought the warm takes longer to fill. We loved them! So cool, especially at night!

Do not book The Wind Chime Boutique Hotel. There is nothing boutique about it. Website indicates 3 star hotel with free wifi, air conditioning, pool all of which are NOT working. Electricity is on and off and minimal hot water. Would not recommend staying here. Had a reservation and left given their false advertising.

When was your reservation for? I spoke to them the other day and at first they told me they were canceling until Dec. 1 but then changed it to Nov. 7 and said I SHOULD be fine for the end of November.
