Getting cash on board

We'll be sailing HAL for the first time in December on the Westerdam. Does anyone if its possible to get cash on board if we end up needing more than we bring? If so, how? Thanks.

You can get a cash advance at the front desk for a 3% fee, or you can use the casino slot machine method to avoid the fee: charge money to your on-board account on a slot, play a little, and then cash out.

 

When we were on the K-dam last year there was an ATM, and was told that these would be added to other ships. If there is one on the W-dam now, it charges a flat fee of $6.50 (IIRC)

A couple of comments. Years ago painting on ships was a continual process. When in port hulls were getting touch ups, wooden railings were being sanded and revarnished. The smell of paint and varnish were common and people did not comment. Paints have improved and touch ups are not as common, but may still happen. Railings are now made of man made materials..not wood. If things like maintenance bother people, perhaps hotel stays should be considered.

As far as plumbing issues post drydock, this is very common. I have seen these issues brought up for years, and it has been recommended never to book a sailing right after a dry dock refurbishment. I asked engineering officers on older ships why this toilet and general plumbing issue is so common. What I was told was...

Contractors shut off all sorts of valves throughout the ship to allow for work to be conducted. Hundreds of valves often in tight out of the way areas. Some valves can be missed when everything is turned on playing havoc with complicated systems. Hundreds of contractors verses the number of cruise line engineers checking things out on a short dry dock turn around results in problems. Perhaps the newest of ships have sensors that can identify things missed like computer systems on new cars....but not on older vessels.

I am sure plumbing problems will be addressed. Me, im getting old and my systems aren't what they once were
