seabum Posted November 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Hi - I'm just wondering - we are the only ship scheduled to be in Roatan in a few weeks - Weather is indicating relatively high winds that day - so I'm expecting to either divert to Coxen Hole or miss the island entirely. Does anyone know what happens to a prepaid "excursion" - which was for the gondolas/beach-break? Part of the convenience of the gondolas was to be able to buzz back to the ship - Would they "bus" us to the beach at mahogany bay - cancel and refund ? I'm not worried about finding something to do - been there a bunch - Just curious what their contingency plans might be Thanks a bunch.
Guest 2000 Posted November 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2017 I don't know the answer to this question and it seems no one else does either. Perhaps your cruise company (Carnival) could be of help.
zqvol Posted December 5, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2017 It is doubtful that Carnival would divert to Coxen Hole. They own Mahogany Bay. You would likely have a sea day instead and any prepaid excursions booked through the ship would be refunded in full to your on board account. OCruisers Posted December 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2017 It's very unlikely you'll be diverted to Coxen Hole so it'll be a day at sea if you can't get into Mahogany Bay. If so Carnival will refund any excursions booked with them.
nealstuber Posted December 5, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2017 I’m not sure why so many are saying Carnival would not divert to Coxen due to high winds. We were on a Princess cruise to MB where exactly that happened. Except CH was booked by another ship so they tendered to CH in life boats. But I wouldn’t let a wind forecast now alter your plans. If they can dock in MB they will, if not they might well do CH. Probelm is it will probably take them 2 hrs to reach that conclusion and then another hour to tie up in CH. Unlikely that they will have any ships excursions, so if you want to have a backup plan ready, research options you can do in a cab in 4 hours round trip. RoatanLife Posted December 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 5, 2017 Seabum, How much faith would you put in the weather report saying it will be windy two weeks from now in Marietta Georgia? Can't worry about those things
