gtalum Posted November 21, 2017 #51 Share Posted November 21, 2017 OPT OUT ASAP my review won't be posted for a day or 2, but i titled it, calling it the spiritair of cruising is an insult to spirit. however bad you think the customer service it's way worse than that. food is awful, service around the ship is worse. it is horrible for americans. we're not used to this poor service. it's like in an italian movie of the 1960's where they're screaming at each, but 7 different languages. just get out if you can. did you take insurance, if you get real sick, real soon. please for your sanity opt out. OMG! Multiple languages?!?!? How terrifying! :loudcry: ;) In seriousness, I strongly suspect that you are describing a more European approach to service rather than the typical American approach. It's not bad (and neither is the American way), it's just different.
Capricruiser Posted November 21, 2017 #52 Share Posted November 21, 2017 I've had 17 cruises with MSC on all of their ships but four. Don't recall ever having any serious issues with anything. Beautiful ships, interesting itineraries, and truly lovely crew members. Cruise number 18 about to start.
pinky68 Posted November 21, 2017 #53 Share Posted November 21, 2017 A bunch of us cruised the Divina last year and it was great. I have cruised RCL,Princess, Carnival and NCL so I have plenty to compare. Food was good, rooms were the largest I’ve ever had on a ship and the service was excellent. The only negative would be it was an older ship, maybe a little dated but still very well maintained.Forget your worries, it will be fine. Get packing, have FUN!! jkrislc Posted November 21, 2017 #54 Share Posted November 21, 2017 I'll about that MSC send to have some of the worst reviews on the internet. But as I read them, I also realize that a lot of the complaints are known quantities, suggest that the reviewer was either uniformed (e.g., complaining about auto gratuities being charged) or expecting a completely traditional US based cruise line experience. Personally, I'm looking forward to the change and an quite excited to experience the diversity onboard.
Lindagop Posted November 21, 2017 #55 Share Posted November 21, 2017 I often think people who write "bad service" are compensated to do so on here OR think good service is when the staff smile and fake interest in your life and do the whole cartwheel and dancing show for you. Service is much more refined on MSC. It is there when YOU request it, not in your face style. If you need service, ask. You will get professional and courteous service. Well said, MSC truely is genuine, refined and classy cruising. Why members even bother to respond to some of these negative and often demeaning comments about fellow passengers , supposedly “dirty ships”, bad food, bad service and on it goes. The best is not to give even a single response. Can’t wait to board Seaside

pinky68 Posted November 21, 2017 #57 Share Posted November 21, 2017 Yes,I think it was built in 2010? I guess that isn’t really “older” but for us it was. We often cruise newer ships. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

agnesd Posted November 24, 2017 #59 Share Posted November 24, 2017 launched in 2012 Funny! After I watched a cruisers blog, I think I might be terrified if we were not in the Yacht Club. The bloggers food experience, cc registration, casino experience, pillow experience, room card problems, small seating in theater, so so coffees, etc were minor problems but plentiful for a 4 day cruise. They kept saying how great it was but the only think they raved about was gelato and decor and their balcony. The balcony was the most ridiculous setup that I have ever seen. It was aft ocean view and there were chairs you could not use. They were sideways b cause that was the width of a the balcony. You could only stand up and barely close the door barely close the door. I haven't even finished their fourth day. As I said, all minor but very little praise. These can be overlooked but when added all together become a major annoyance especially on a 4 day cruise. Kwaj girl Posted November 25, 2017 #64 Share Posted November 25, 2017 If the OP is indeed "LITERALLY TERRIFIED" perhaps he/she should just stay home and do some serious research on the next trip before committing.

Hi Cruisingfox, You are 100% correct. Hopefully Plat0001 has a new booking in a YC suite on Seaside so we can put this one to rest since it has attracted so much attention. Congrats Plat...I haven’t seen this much action on the MSC site since they renamed the booze package! (I have to say...the title to this thread reminded me of a headline from The Inquirer...:D). Nothing to see here folks...move along.:D;p:D

I finished the blog. It was enjoyable to watch. Yes, they said they enjoyed it. MSC seems to have issues to iron out but certainly nothing terrifying. The credit card registering is one. Most cruise lines allow preregistration. Looking forward to their next cruise.

The credit card thing is no big deal. It would be nice to be able to do it before hand like DCL. NCL makes you do it when you register at the pier. DCL also keeps adult's pictures on-hand so you don't have to have those retaken if you have sailed within a certain time frame. It would be nice if the cruiselines would pick-up all the best practices.
thecruisers6 Posted November 26, 2017 #73 Share Posted November 26, 2017 I too am terrified of Divina having sailed in the Yacht Club in September. I’ve booked 2 weeks in Bellissima Yacht Club and opened a bank savings account with the title ‘Yacht Club fund’ It was the best holiday of our lives [emoji3]
