poolwife Posted December 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Wondering if it is better to do whale watching out of Victoria or Vancouver? Also, is May 12 too early for the whales in that area? Thank you. Sherry

Rare Keith1010 Posted December 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2017 Whale watching is excellent in Victoria and the prime season is May thru October. Keith
mapleleaves Posted December 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 14, 2017 how much time do you have in Victoria ? The southern resident pods travel quite a distance; from the WA coast thru the San Juan islands and Vancouver island. i've done several whale watching trips to see them ( out of Anacortes, WA) but it was a 6hr trip. The trips were very successful but we had time on our side, plus I go in Sept during the salmon runs. Late May is when sightings pick up so you're early for peak. Vendors maintain a whale watching count on their web site; prior to your visit, start looking at the log to get a good idea of your chances. poolwife Posted December 14, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted December 14, 2017 We are there all day, 8 am to 11 pm on the Emerald Princess. Looks like we have time to whale watch and do Butchart Gardens. Trying to work it out.
