thuyronald Posted December 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2017 Hi everyone, I'm contemplating booking a cruise going to Norway and was wondering if having a cabin on port versus starboard side matters for this sailing. The itinerary in the order of the ports are listed below: Geiranger Arctic Circle cruising Tromso Honningsvag Alesund Flam Stavanger Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. CruiserBruce Posted December 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2017 Means nothing. The scenery is all around you. You aren't locked in your cabin...you will be out and about, all over the ship.
MeHeartCruising Posted December 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2017 I agree with Bruce. Pick your cabin based on other considerations. Deep in the fjords, you'll see the views all around you without concern for which side of the ship you are on. Also, the ships will dock on different sides depending on things they need to do with the ship, so you can't really predict that either. Either side if fine. thuyronald Posted December 20, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted December 20, 2017 Thank you for your advice. I didn't think it mattered, but just wanted to make sure. Happy holidays to you all. Twee
CrossBluePerchance Posted December 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 20, 2017 Which side? Outside.
thuyronald Posted December 21, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted December 21, 2017 That's funny. Yes, I do plan on getting at least an outside cabin. Otherwise, it really will not matter which side of the ship our cabin is located :)
kaisatsu Posted December 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 21, 2017 Also worth remembering: Sailing into a fjord also means sailing out of a fjord. So in many cases, whatever was on one side of the ship during a sail-in will be on the other during sail-out. However, for the sail-in to Geiranger, I definitely recommend heading up to the top deck, so that you get the perspective of having the steep fjord walls towering over you on both sides. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 21, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 21, 2017 Both sides will be fine and some of your best views will come from the open deck of the ship. Keith
