All:  Just finished typing in destinations for the WC into the State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). This free program ( our taxes pay for it) allows the State Department to track your trip by date and destination and provides one with bulletins ahead of our trip.  Comes to you by email.  If there is anbissue, they can be contacted by family or in turn provide info to family should there be an issue.

Highly recommend the STEP to fellow passengers.  Just Google STEP and it will take you to their site.  Have passport data and emergency contact info available.  Everything is done online.  We are going to some sketchy countries.
