akabourek Posted January 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2018 hi we are arriving in barcelona (ncl epic) and i noticed they dock at 5 Am, and we are trying to make a 10 Am flight - nonstop to JFK - do you think if we walk off at 7 Am we could make the flight? i know it's less than half an hour to the airport from the port thanks
EnricM Posted January 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) 1.) That entirely depends on the day and the month. This is a city of 2 million souls, and we also DO have a rush hour, you know. The month is also important: despite we receive millions of tourists all year long, if at the high of the summer you have plenty of visitors and residents alike flying in and out at all hours and queues are "normal" at certain moments. 2.) Again, depending on the day... during most of the year, Mon and Fri are especially busy at the airport as there are plenty of residents working elsewhere during the week, or vice-versa, that are flying to work or back home. 3.) Port to the airport (or vice-versa) is not necessarily 30'... that'll depend on traffic (see 1) noting also that the exit of the port is located precisely next to one of the main entry roads to the city (Ronda del Litoral). In normal circumstances, it can be done in 30' though. Given the schedule you mention, in principle you "should" have no problem making this flight... but it's by no means given as there are plenty of negative variables that could potentially make it "complicated" and take you much longer to get to the boarding gate. In any case, if your specific flight requires being there 3h in advance, and some overseas flights do, that can make your attempt futile. Just sayin', sorry not to be able to be more assertive. I would not take the chance. You are right, it could be very tight. Not worth missing the flight.
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2018 I would not do it. While not required I allow three hours to arrive to the airport before the flight. Security has been increased for flights back to the USA and you just never know. Keith
martyap Posted January 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2018 We looked at that flight for our 10/23/18 return to JFK from BCN. Both legs of the AA non stops had poor times for cruisers. We went with the Delta non stop.......caught a good price r/t of $563......a few days later the same flight was $1030. The Delta departs NY at 8:00pm and departs BCN at noon......more realistic for cruising AA has other connecting flight choices but we wanted non stop Sent from my iPad using Forums
DreneeH Posted January 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2018 I posted a similar question before reading this post so I think my question has been answered. I was looking at a flight at noon on a sunday for June 3rd, also docking at 5am back to the U.S.
