Dining times on Liberty of the Sea

Hi- we are booked under a group reservation with family (don't get me started on how inconvenient this is when calling RC customer service)

Anyway- it seems our entire group (12+) has reservations for dinner together at 5:30, while that is ok for a night or two, is it going to be possible to break away from them for dinner alone a few nights- hopefully at a different time in the MDR?

Or are we stuck with dining with a large group at this early time every night? How flexible is RC with this?

If you are in fixed (traditional) dining, you are stuck with that time in the dining room. If you want to eat dinner at a different time, your options are Windjammer (buffet) or a specialty restaurant.

If you are in My Time Dining, you can show up in the MDR whenever you want.

Hmmm... our Cruise planner has NO dinner info or times listed (that I can find) but all our PDF documents from RCI all show 5:30 dining time with no additional info so I am assuming it is traditional. That is really a disappointment- we don't mind eating with the large group a night or two but on other cruises (different line) dining with such a large group was a nightmare and luckily we were able to avoid it most nights but we were REALLY hoping to eat in the MDR but just our family of 4 and at a later time- 5:30 is VERY early for dinner for us

Ugh-I wish we could "un-tie" our reservation with our group

You can untie your reservation from the group and switch to My Time, but then you would not be able to eat with the group at all.

We have a group of 8 on the traditional late seating. If we decide we don't like the late seating after a couple of nights can we switch to MTD on the fly?

You can switch to MTD, space permitting.
