sots Posted January 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Hi, does anyone know if or when the Sip and Sale promo will be offered this year? Thanks!
capriccio Posted January 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2018 No one (outside of Princess HQ staff probably) knows but in the past (2015, 2016, and 2017) it was offered in July and August.
Astro Flyer Posted January 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) No one (outside of Princess HQ staff probably) knows but in the past (2015, 2016, and 2017) it was offered in July and August. Also 3 for Free between September & November from 2015 to 2017. That’s been our best option...paid tips, OBC and category upgrade. The S+S offer is for balcony or higher types of cabins; 3FF includes all cabins. If eligible for S+S we book it for the OBC and refare when 3FF is available. However as you wrote, these are recent experiences & only Princess knows if & when both may be offered again this year...hopefully history will repeat itself. jasbo49 Posted January 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Just looked at my records (texting history with my wife) and it looks like the 2017 Sip & Sail started on June 20. No guarantee they'll offer it again, but I would expect it in late June. I would agree with Astro Flyer, though, that the 3 for Free is better for your bottom line, unless you're pretty serious drinkers. We tend to book a lot of cruises under S&S, then rebook under 3 for Free when we see how we would fare under that promo. Jim
need2cruisesoon Posted January 24, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Other cruise lines offer perks all the time with no black outs.(X, NCL) Cant understand why Princess wouldn't do the same.
anthonyy7 Posted January 24, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Prob June but don’t expect it to be for any sailings this year. It’s usually for later in the schedule sailings when the prices are higher and have yet to start dropping. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Wishing on a star Posted January 24, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Yes, it seems that it is like an 'Early Booking' thing. Need-2-Cruise.... If there are lines that include a full Beverage Package, Specialty Dining, etc... then you can bet that this is reflected in the fare. On cruise lines like Princess... one can choose to add those things, or not.
Wishing on a star Posted January 24, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2018 That is right, Anthony.... OP, there are many reports of cruisers who have booked early, with the package, and then decided to cancel that, and re-book, if there are last minute price drops which actually make it cheaper to re-book and then add the package or pay for drinks as you go. We have a current booking made last year with the Package Promo, right now, it would cost MORE, without the package. But, last minute fares could, possibly, be something we would look at, if cheap enough. When the cheap fares for the Caribbean for this Spring came out, we booked a BETTER cabin, at a savings of $475.00pp. We were excited to move our dates up, too. Too bad we had to cancel!!! tonit964 Posted January 24, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 24, 2018 We switched our March 2019 cruise from Sip & Sail to 3 for Free because the savings was huge.
anthonyy7 Posted January 24, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 24, 2018 We’ve booked under the promo every year but always end up changing for a pride drop. We’ve changed our current Summer sailing from S&S to 3 for free and now the anniversary. None of the perks mean anything because the cruise cost dropped $4200. It’s the same scenario the past few years. When we book with the S&S we’re like let’s see how long this lasts. [emoji846] Of course you can’t tell everyone that. Our friend sailed with us in 2016 and is a drinker [emoji485]. I tried tell her to lose the beverage package and buy it because the price dropped thousands but no she didn’t. 🤷🏻*♂️. I’m sure that’s what princess wants, people who either think they are getting a great deal or don’t check for price drops. Iamcruzin Posted January 24, 2018 #11 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Other cruise lines offer perks all the time with no black outs.(X, NCL) Cant understand why Princess wouldn't do the same. I agree. You will probably see the argument that X and NCL up the fare to include these which is true to a point. However I see the price spike every time Princess offers one of their promos. I'm about to cancel two Princess cruises one with sip and sail and one with OBC offered. I found a better deal on X. Two perks, better room and location, less money and I don't have to fly to port. NavyVeteran Posted January 24, 2018 #12 Share Posted January 24, 2018 On my 14-day Circle Caribbean cruise this March, the current price for my cabin category (without AIBP) is $1,099 higher than what I paid under Sip and Sail (with AIBP and free specialty restaurant dinner), so the price doesn't always go down. memoak Posted January 24, 2018 #13 Share Posted January 24, 2018 My 20 day Caribbean cruise in November is now selling for the same price that I paid under the sip and sail and I have all my drinks included - pretty sweet deal

That's exactly what we've found with our 2 past Sip and Sail cruises - 31 day LA to Rio in 2016 and 25 day western Med/TA in 2017. I watched before and after prices and the fares only went up. The package was great to have on such long cruises.
land lover Posted January 24, 2018 #15 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Sip & Sale Promo............... 2 of my cruises went down, one way down(21 dayer) and the other some....I figured out that I broke even on both of those(other promos that I didn't take or price drops counted in)... Then 2 othes fares stayed roughly the same or has gone up a little(7 day, in March so still time to go down)..unfortunately both of these are/were under the new package, liked getting that discount on bottles of wine and taking a can of gingerale to my room. The 2017 promo I skipped....figured I had my fill....or will just get it for myself, DH just never utilized his. Getting grats pre-paid on a 28 day cruise sounds better to me.... caribill Posted January 25, 2018 #16 Share Posted January 25, 2018 My 20 day Caribbean cruise in November is now selling for the same price that I paid under the sip and sail and I have all my drinks included - pretty sweet deal Not a surprise. Instead of price drops, Princess prefers to maintain (or increase if demand warrants) the price so that customers will learn to book early and not wait until later hoping for a lower price. So instead of lowering the price, a sale includes one or more amenities such as included gratuities or a beverage package. Overall savings, but not a lower listed price. cruiser113 Posted January 25, 2018 #17 Share Posted January 25, 2018 We have found it's always good to keep checking for price drops and promos after booking with the S&S. Some times you win and some times the price does not change enough to re fare. Last year prices did not change much. This year big difference in switching to anniversary sale vs the S&S we already had booked. Could be the cruises we booked that played into better prices. Both are TA and one is 14 days and one is 25 days. We saved over $1000 p/p on first one and also received an extra $600 OBC for first TA. On second TA we saved $1500 p/p and received $600 OBC
sunsetbeachgal Posted January 25, 2018 #18 Share Posted January 25, 2018 (edited) Same type of experience as above poster. Our base price from our original booking made last summer with Sip and Sail has now gone down $530 per person plus $600 cabin OBC under the current Anniversary Sale. You or TA have to keep your eye on every sale that applies to your booking to see what it includes and what value it has to you. memoak Posted June 21, 2018 #22 Share Posted June 21, 2018 My fall 2019 15 day cruise is currently showing at $500 more per person than I am currently booked with my casino rate. Unless the fare jumps up $1,000 per person with the sip and sail we are much better off with the PBP promo. Yes we do enjoy our cocktails, wine, waters and coffee.
