rick1969 Posted January 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Hi, We will be on the Celebrity Infinity this summer and I was wondering what people have figured out regarding communication while on the boat with 10 people potentially scattered everywhere. I'm assuming if we want to use phones, we need to pay for wifi...any other thoughts or solutions other than the periodic times to just agree to meet? Thanks! DO NOT use walkie talkies, PLEASE - just soooo obnoxious. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
sloopsailor Posted January 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2018 "Post Its" and room phones work wonders. DO NOT use walkie talkies, PLEASE - just soooo obnoxious. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Agreed. No reason to pay extra or make it more complicated than it needs to be. Just plan ahead, with occasional rendezvous times during the day to make adjustments if necessary. Walkie Talkies are nearly worthless due to the metal construction of the ship (don't let anyone tell you otherwise!). The ship is not that large, and you will be surprised how often you will see people in your group even when not planned. Try to ensure everyone is together for dinner. That is a great time to share the day's experiences and make plans for the next day.
cb at sea Posted January 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2018 When you are all together...presumably at dinner....talk to each other and tell each other your plans for the next day...that way, you'll have a good idea of where to look for each other. You can leave messages on the cabin phones....and it's really not as hard as you are imagining to "hook up" with your friends. If you know you'll be at the pool most of the day...say so! Others may join you. If hubby knows he'll be in the casino....look there for him! No one wants their time interrupted by texts and pleas to join someone else! leaveitallbehind Posted January 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2018 The ship is not that large that you will have trouble finding or keeping in touch with each other. Talk at night or in the morning to make plans. Meet for meals. Leave post-its on the doors or voice messages on the room phones. It really is not that difficult. There are only so many places your group will be during the day on board that would make finding each other a challenge. We have cruised as a family and with others for over 25 years and have never needed to use a phone, walkie talkie (Please no! They don't work well anyway), or text to keep in touch - it just isn't that difficult.

ldubs Posted January 28, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2018 Awesome! Thanks everyone for taking that item off my plate to deal with. Most of the cruises we take are with large groups of relatives and friends. I think the previous comments are spot on.
bandjwayne Posted January 29, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 29, 2018 Last year we used the Text feature for the cell phones. I for one hated it, I am on vacation, no electronics for me. Notes, white board on door, voicemail. Make plans the night before, or set up a place to meet at a specific time if you all want to hook up. sail7seas Posted January 29, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 29, 2018 Cabin phones have voice mail. Some people put a white board on gtheir cab in door for friends to write a message. Aftter you are on the ship, it is possible, many in yhour group will get in a patern and habit of certains places at certain times and you will have an idea where to find them. Walking is great exercise. :) They always breakfast at the buffet at 8 :00 A.M., ofr example
