goldgirl2 Posted February 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2018 Lately, all I’m reading are very negative posts about the Freedom. The MDR is apparently a complete disaster. The staff are terrible. The food is horrible....... the worst cruise they have ever been on....... I’m taking my kids on their first cruise and all the wonderful things I’ve told them about the Freedom seems to be a thing of the past. paradise4me Posted February 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2018 We were on it over Christmas and the dining room was awesome. Our waitstaff was outstanding and the food was warm and plentiful. The Freedom is a wondeerful ship. We had a couple issues with 2 different staff members but you cant let crappy people ruin your vacation. I would definately go back on it in a heartbeat. depplep Posted February 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2018 I'm on Freedom in 10 days and will write a review when I get back. We may not go into the dining room except for breakfast or lunch but I will report on the other dining venues as well. This will be our first trip on Freedom. RCCLNYMETS41 Posted February 7, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2018 We were on Freedom Nov 2017 & our experience was wonderful! Friendly crew, excellent service, Victor (the greeter at the Windjammer) was so entertaining, ice show was great, ship was well maintained, Abe (CD) was very personable, & 70s night was a blast as always! Have a great time with your kids!

I would definately go back on it in a heartbeat. My MDR experience was terrible on Freedom.....but it wasn't a crew personality issue. They were under a lot of pressure to get us served quickly with not enough crew/time to get it done properly with many dishes luke warm. Late dining was moved to 730 pm from 8pm which didn't give them enough time to get set up. The waiters also started taking the diamond drink vouchers which threw another wrench into the mix. The drinks were then brought out by someone else who didn't know which table went with what drinks. He would just call out the drink..... The rest of the ship was fantastic. Abe the CD was great and his team did a marvelous job with the activities. The ship didn't look her age. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk

Hopefully see you at the meet n mingle or around the ship. Quiet a few of us will be coming over from serenade for the Feb 17 freedom sailing. First cruise ship that we went on and it got us addicted to cruising. Have sailed her 4 times but the last was about 2 years ago when she left port Canaveral. All our cruises on her have been wonderful. Hope it continues. I take negative posts with a grain of salt. Posts for a recent cruise on serenade said met was horrible. I have found out that it is fine. Staff was attentive but obviously have too many tables but they still provided great service. Have fun and see you onboard in 10 days. Back to finding something to eat....it's been 2 hours so am starving [emoji6][emoji6] Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
mattpro Posted February 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 7, 2018 A little trivia fact per Senor Super Mario regarding the Freedom that he told me 2 weeks ago. Of all the ships in the fleet the crew on the Freedom prefer to STAY on the ship versus transferring to any other ship - which includes Oasis class. As a side note I've been on this ship 5 weeks in the past 2 months and have booked the Freedom for 18 more cruises starting in Nov. 2018. For the few smokers left out there - the Freedom is one of 2 ships left that still have the cigar bar. For casino patrons the word is that there will be no smoking in the casinos (all ships) starting 2019. Of course if smokers want to start a petition and receive a ton of support (including ship's officers) - everything is negotiable. Proof of point - The Adventure's corporate plan was to put Chops Grill where Giovanni's is on the 11th deck next to the WJ and move Giovanni's to the 4th floor opposite the Schooner Bar. Chops Grill IS on the 4th floor as I type.

mattpro Posted February 7, 2018 #15 Share Posted February 7, 2018 In the cigar bar ( Connoisseur Club - deck 5) you can smoke your own cigars as well as buy from a limited selection. Also, drinks and cigars can be purchased nightly from 7 p.m. thru 1 a.m.. The room is open 24/7 with a TV and comfortable love seats and chairs. Probably more new threads by the complainers, but my take from Cruise Critic posts is overwhelmingly positive, and I'm looking forward to our upcoming cruise on that ship. Rare mcatmcat Posted February 7, 2018 #17 Share Posted February 7, 2018 amazing experience, we even had shrimp every single night at the windjammer . The last time I saw shrimp coctail in the freedom class was almost 5 yrs ago.
villager70 Posted February 7, 2018 #18 Share Posted February 7, 2018 We sailed the Freedom BTB in Nov & Dec.We had my time and ate at 730 instead of the normal 800 pm we usually get and will go back to 800pm. We stayed in a Jr. suite we normally stay the last 5 or so times and had best attendant we have ever had.My time servers were a little disorganized but food good and could order extra items if you desired.Ship was in excellent condition . Ate at Chops several times & Giovannie's but prefer chops.Restaurant manager & Chef treated us to lunch on Friday at Chops which was great. To sum up this was our 61st cruise and as far as Freedom goes, we will return Feb.25th & April 8th. We are not real hard to please and since we started cruising in 1991 we always weigh the good against any bad and the good always exceeds. I enjoy the reviews and all comments but if you are just starting out or a seasoned veteran , don't start off on a negative attitude.I always try to treat everyone, including server, attendants etc. the way I would like to be treated and most often you are rewarded. getmeouttaohio Posted February 7, 2018 #22 Share Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) ;pWe just got off the Freedom last Saturday and while we were totally disapointed with the main dining room I can post some positives. The ship itself is beautiful and well taken care of. We liked our jr suite on deck 10 and our stateroom attendant Mabelin was friendly and did a good job. We ate at Chops and Giavanni's and both were good. The windjammer was well staffed. Staff was frequently cleaning dishes and glasses around the pool deck. The comedians in the main theatre were both funny. We had great tablemates in the main dining room and I learned how to play roulette. I didn't lose too much on slots. Room service was delivered 2 out of 3 attempts. And i've just now realized its easier to write a positive cruise review after you get done shoveling 5 inches of snow out of the driveway ;p;p;p Edited February 7, 2018 by getmeouttaohio don't want all the smiley faces
