frannie Posted February 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2018 just read a facebook post about the pools on the seaside . They said all pools are 6 feet deep no shallow end . That is insane . not all adults swim . I like to stand in the pool get wet and leave . Also no steps . those ladders are steep and hard for us seniors with no upper body strength. I am not ready for a chair lift but god i dont swim well for 6 feet deep
windlicht Posted February 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2018 I think most people do know how to swim. There are showers to cool off- shouldn’t go into the water without showering off first anyway. Also there’s a children’s area with pool. It’s not 6ft deep. cruzeluver Posted February 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2018 They are actually more than 6 feet deep. I am exactly six feet tall and could not stand in them even on tippy-toes.
ElaineKeagy Posted February 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2018 Hey there’s a lot of us that aren’t strong swimmers and like to just play around in about 3-4 feet of water. If I want a shower I can stay in in the cabin, or home. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
frannie Posted February 8, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted February 8, 2018 now that really sucks. Guess i will be hanging with the kids water park . I am only 5.4 and a senior age 66 . I will be doing excursions to a beach when in port just to go for a swim
voyager89 Posted February 8, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2018 I was actually surprised that all Jungle, Miami and South beach pools were that deep. All other cruise ships I´ve been on would have around 4 feet deep. Anyone knows if its an MSC thing? Or just the Seaside?

kba1988 Posted February 8, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 8, 2018 Can anyone recommend a good life jacket, or a good flotation device that's not ugly "rescue-boat orange???
kerryincork Posted February 8, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 8, 2018 NCL also had very deep pools. But they had a very shallow ledge around edge of pool. The ship I was on Princess also had deep pools. Sent from my VTR-L09 using Forums mobile app
mafig Posted February 8, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 8, 2018 I seem to recall some deep pools also. People just hang onto the edge.;p
Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted February 8, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 8, 2018 Anyone knows if its an MSC thing? Or just the Seaside? It’s the same on divina. And oddly, the divina yc pool is also mismarked and has 4’9” painted on the cement. This was problematic for my friend who isn’t comfortable in deeper water as she thought she would at least be able to stand tippy toed :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted February 9, 2018 #15 Share Posted February 9, 2018 Not true the Divina aft pool is 4.4 - 4'6. Actually, I stand corrected (literally). I do seem to recall standing in the infinity pool on the days it isn’t completely filled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Jaco5NC Posted February 9, 2018 #17 Share Posted February 9, 2018 I wonder if this is a new (strange) trend? We noticed the pool was deep on the NCL Getaway. Everyone was sitting around the edge. That was new for us.
cmukid87 Posted February 9, 2018 #18 Share Posted February 9, 2018 Yes, very strange indeed. This kind of frustrates me. It is one of those things you don't think about when booking. My kids all live in the water but will much less so if the pools are this deep. I'm about 6'6" and if I can't even touch, that will be a strange feeling. I guess I'll be one of those sitting along the edge or in the pool resting on the edge.

Summerstravel Posted July 22, 2018 #20 Share Posted July 22, 2018 I don't really swim and I'm disappointed in this. I think the reason for the Deep poles is so people will not stay in them long and they don't become overcrowded.
Neaxan Posted July 22, 2018 #21 Share Posted July 22, 2018 Personally, I love the deep pools. Leaves room for actual swimming because the pools aren't that crowded. Even for relaxing in the pool, I don't need to touch the ground - I can tread water comfortably.. Might be because I'm not even 5'2 - I'm quite used to not being able to touch the ground - maybe on tip toes if I'm lucky :D
mafig Posted July 22, 2018 #22 Share Posted July 22, 2018 I like the deep pools too. We have a pool at home and are always in the deep end. We always say, we should have built this pool 6 feet all over, since the shallow end is wasted. (by us).
