Cruisin4US Posted February 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Are you allowed to put soda in your luggage that the porters take to load on the ship, or do you have to carry it all on yourself?
CruiserBruce Posted February 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Generally the port follows cruise line policy as to what you can bring on. Unless it is unsafe or illegal, the port doesn't care what you bring on. So if your cruise line allows soda to be checked, then it will happen. If they don't, then you carry it on. Cruisin4US Posted February 10, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Oops.....should have said that this is for sailing on a Princess cruise out of San Pedro(Star Princess). Thank you!
CruiserBruce Posted February 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2018 I believe Princess requires you to carry soft drinks in your carry on or other carried bag. Not in checked bags. You can confirm this on the Princess board. It would be Princess' worldwide, and fleetwide policy. It doesn't vary by port.
oilsand Posted February 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2018 have been on 3 princess cruises lately from new york city and FLL, and had no problem carrying soda on ships. Get a cloth bag from your grocery store ( or princess travel bag ) put your sodas in the bag , tag it for your cabin and leave with your luggage for the porters at the port. Seems alot easier that putting it in checked luggage

A case of Coke fits nicely into one of my carry-on bag, and I can just put a tag on the bag and have it delivered to my room.;) Thanks for the info. Deesquared Posted February 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2018 We bought a flat of bottled water, and attached a luggage tag directly to the plastic wrap covering the flat. It made it to our cabin just fine! I also saw a few other passengers with boxes of pop that they either carried on, or taped luggage tags to. I wouldn't bother putting them in your luggage. Takes up too much space! Enjoy your cruise!
jlp20 Posted March 3, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 3, 2018 I have also "checked in" water and regular 12 pack Coke (after reinforcing with duct tape) no problem. WE have also witnessed longshoreman MISHANDLING bags inside the cruise center in San Pedro. As if throwing for distance, watched a guy throwing bag after bag from one side of luggage floor to the other 24 feet plus. Don't think pressurized soda would last long
