GeorgiaMomof4 Posted February 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2018 We are on the downhill slide to our cruise on the Magic. There will be 19 of us going - ranging in ages from early 50's down to 3. We know that we can't all sit at one table, but I'm thinking about asking to see if we could be seated at 2 round tops for 8 and a 4 top (all in close proximity). We do have teens and tweens who could occupy the 4 top and the adults and smaller kids could sit at the round tops. We love the round tops because of the ease of having conversations. Any other suggestions from any of you that have cruised with large groups? Thanks in advance!

siestakeys04 Posted February 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Make sure all of your reservations are linked together and you have the same dining time. We had a table for 10 our last cruise now we have about 28 going this time and I am thinking they will put us near each other
cb at sea Posted February 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Definitely make sure your booking/reservation numbers are "linked" and they will put you as together as possible!
pcvtmom Posted February 12, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2018 We've had a 12 top several times. That's probably the largest.

klfrodo Posted February 13, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 13, 2018 You get all the reservation numbers together, then you either tell your Travel Agent to link all the reservations or you call a Carnival and have them “Link” all the reservations. All this does is link everyone for fixed dining in the MDR.
CeleBrat Posted February 13, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 13, 2018 With only 3 days until your cruise, and if you haven't already linked your reservations, it is likely too late for them to assist you as your party is so large.... Do you all have the same dining time? CeleBrat
GeorgiaMomof4 Posted February 14, 2018 Author #11 Share Posted February 14, 2018 how do you link ? If you booked through a travel agent they should be able to do it for you or if you booked through a PVP or Carnival, they can do it for you. Pellaz Posted February 15, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 15, 2018 You could also email the maitre'd now, although your cruise IS getting close. (I forget the ship identifier codes for the email addresses, but they're posted elsewhere on the forum.) If you were on the Vista, you could all have the same table. There is reportedly a round 20-top table in its MDR. :o :o
Pellaz Posted February 15, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 15, 2018 I found the ship ID codes; you plug them in (XX) when emailing the maitre'd. Be sure to include your booking numbers and stateroom numbers. So, for the Magic, it's mcmaitred@carnival.com. In my experience you will probably not get a response and they are not required to respond (there is no official policy directing anyone to email the maitre'd), but also in my experience they have acted on my request. Pellaz Posted February 16, 2018 #15 Share Posted February 16, 2018 Thank you! I had this list before but had somehow misplaced it. I'm hoping I have our dining issues resolved. Here's hoping. Drop by the MDR when you board and check with the maitre'd. Seems like it's usually the midship dining room, lowest floor.... so Deck 3, I think, in your case. Athankfulheart Posted February 16, 2018 #16 Share Posted February 16, 2018 We have done groups of this size and bigger. IMO the best option on the Dream class ships are the 10 top rectangles that are next to each other around the outer edge of the aft dining room. Much easier to make conversation than across a giant round table.
Quilcruisers Posted February 17, 2018 #17 Share Posted February 17, 2018 We have done 18 people, 22 people and even 12 people and have always had tables together. When we had 22 last year, we had two twelve top round tables in the back but we had to link together our bookings with carnival. Don’t make mistake I made in summer, booked all myself and had them all on my profile and thought I had linked. Come to find out they had us in random groups in different dining rooms even. Real bad. But soon as we got in the ship, the we found out the time to make changes and ran to dining room. They were not able to accommodate us the first night but after second night in, they got us a great table at the front for our party of 12. They did get us moved to the same dining room that first night but split us up, we had six on one floor and six on the second floor of the dining room. Not ideal but they tried. Then second day we got a notice that we had a new table for dinner that night. Sent from my iPad using Forums

FijiFlip Posted February 21, 2018 #19 Share Posted February 21, 2018 Linking the rooms is easily done by calling carnival. One person in the group can do it but you will need information for each cabin: 1 - names of people traveling 2 - birth dates for each person traveling 3 - booking number for each cabin 4 - PIN number for each booking We have 16 on the magic in November. All 7 bookings are linked. We are expecting to be split between 2 (10 person) tables for dinner. This is the second large group we have traveled with reservations linked Iike this. They did a good job keeping the group together last time.(y)
