Clarea Posted February 25, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2018 I’m thinking she meant Southern Itinerary. That's kind of what prompted my question, plus the Southern has at least two itinerary variations.

TheJenn Posted February 25, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Not Southern... Eastern. Very port heavy. We left out of San Juan and stopped in St Croix, St Maarten, Martinique, Barbados and Grenada, with out last day at sea. TheJenn Posted February 25, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Thanks for posting. The prime rib looked to die for. The prime rib was excellent, though the beef tenderloin was probably my favorite of the week. The roast chicken was surprisingly excellent. Very moist and flavorful. Coldspring62 Posted February 25, 2018 #14 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Thank you for posting. We are on same ship and same ports on 1st April. Any recommendations for our port to do list or things you did on board and don’t like to be negative but anything to avoid too? Denise Ann Posted February 25, 2018 #15 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Thanks for the itinerary. In other cruises we have taken, Martinique, Barbados, and Grenada were considered Southern. I agree with Bob. We just got off Jewel B2B, did the exact same itinerary. All our paperwork from Royal says southern route.
TheJenn Posted February 26, 2018 Author #16 Share Posted February 26, 2018 So strange... Maybe it was how our agent listed it? My paperwork said Eastern... Either way... On to the question of activities... On St Croix, we walked to sandcastles on the beach in the morning. It was about a mile, but it was partly cloudy and not too hot yet. $10 for a day pass which included chairs, umbrellas, a drink and use of their facilities. It was a Rocky beach, but plenty of folks snorkeling. From there, we took a cab to the Cruzan Rum distillery (about $20) where we took their tour. ($8/person and includes tasting and two drinks.) we really enjoyed the tour and this day. In St Maarten we rented a Jeep from Coastal Car Rental, which is right in the Port, for around $100. We basically just drove around and explored, then spent the afternoon at Maho Beach since DH is an aviation buff. Cool experience overall, but St Maarten is still in very rough shape. In Martinique, we took it easy. We spent maybe two hours on shore. We walked to the church and library in town, then did some fabric shopping before heading back. I can wing my way though Spanish or Italian, but I can't understand a word of French. I could skip Martinique in the future. We did an excursion through the Chase Portal for Barbados. We thought we were going to be hiking Welchman's(sp?) Gully... But it was more of a 15 or 20 minute stroll. Dissapointing...probably should have done Harrison's Cave. Then we headed to Pirates Cove Beach Club where we went to snorkel with turtles and over the shipwrecks. Sadly, there were no turtles and my husband had a mask malfunction and had to be pulled out of the water, so I missed the shipwreck part to stay with him. (he's OK) The snorkeling was a bit Dissapointing because we were in water so deep and cloudy we couldn't see much... Though I imagine the shipwreck site was more interesting. In Grenada, we ended up as the only people on our tour of Grand Etang National Park. Again, I was dissapointed that it wasn't really hiking so much as park and walk 15 minutes... But our guide was wonderful and we had a great time chatting about the history and culture of the island. We also stopped at Annendale Falls (pretty, but overcrowded and full of slightly pushy vendors, so not worth it in my opinion) and at the Fort (Great view!) We liked Grenada and Barbados the best, and would also happily return to St Croix. Sent from my SM-G950U using Forums mobile app

debsweb18 Posted March 3, 2018 #22 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Did anyone else notice the menus are 90% the same every night? Not very imaginative. I was on the same cruise - very disappointing. Yes, dinner selections weren't very good. Our table complained about the lack of variety and poor meat quality, as well as the loud music. The head chef came out to get our opinions and the main dining waiter comped us filet mignon with our lobster. The filet was excellent .
JoeyGo Posted March 14, 2018 #23 Share Posted March 14, 2018 There does seem to be more of the same items every night than items that change every night. I'm glad these are more up to date menus, as it makes deciding if we want to go to the Windjammer or the specialty restaurants on some evenings. We will be sailing on 4/15. BIBPhotography Posted March 14, 2018 #25 Share Posted March 14, 2018 Thank you! We are counting down to our "VERY FIRST CRUISE" (only 80 days now) and the menus and pics were exactly what I needed this morning. Although we will be on Freedom and are doing a Southern itinerary, these menus gave us an idea of what to expect. I read all the time about the lack of variety, the food itself and the service, but here's my thought... Your on a cruise, lighten up and enjoy! I've got nothing to compare it to so I'm gonna enjoy...bottom line! Once again, THANK YOU for the photos and menus, now I'm hungry and gonna grab a pbj sandwich! Might even post a photo of it!
