doubleduty Posted February 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2018 This will be our first cruise on NCL and we got the specialty dining package for two of us as a promo and I bought a third one for our 15 year old grandson. Simple question: do we make our dining reservations when we are on board or is there a way to do it ahead of time? Our cruise is not until July maybe when it gets closer we will see a way to book on-line???
Rare KeithJenner Posted February 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2018 You can book online from 90 days out (100 if you are in a suite). Make sure you have registered in the "myncl" section of the website to be able to do it.
casofilia Posted February 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2018 As there are only 30% of places available online, get in as soon as you can otherwise do it as soon as you get on board to ensure you get when and where you want.
kayjay76 Posted February 27, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2018 If there is a certain time and place you know you'd like to eat... set your calendar for 90 days out. not 91 or 92. By 91 days, most of the earlier times will be gone. Book what you think you'd like... you can always cancel onboard at guest services or simply pick up your stateroom phone and dial the code on phone for resturants and state you'd like to cancel so and so. Easy peasy. Better to make the reservations and get the times you might want than to wait til onboard. Also, you can always head to the restaurant and see if they have an open table. Not the best way, but most times there will be a small wait and you can get in.
Rare KeithJenner Posted February 27, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Actually you do not have to wait until you are on board. There will be an NCL employee in the check in area taking dining reservations. If you wait until you are on board most of the better times will be gone. That can depend on the embarkation port. In my experience it is more common for there not to be this option (or for them to be very well hidden). In some ports (Barcelona for example) they are there sometimes but not always. We are sailing in a suite in March, but in the midst of holiday fun (and chaos;p), I completely forgot to make reservations until January! At that point the options were quite liimited. We’ll attempt to modify them onboard, but it would have been nice to skip that step.

But, we eat early (5:30) and probably would not have had a problem booking earlier. If you like to dine later it would be a very good idea to book as soon as available.
