lias Posted December 26, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2005 Thank you Captain Rhone; they are great photos. As I said in another post, the ship needs a bit of a clean up after the voyage from Italy. I must say that I find the "Extension" they added to the stern during the change from "Costa Tropicale" to "Pacific Star" rather ugly. :( Does anyone know the reason for this addition? EDIT: Changed names of ships from abbreviated form to full names in case some people where unaware of the ships in question. (lias)

Gyyp Posted December 26, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 26, 2005 Lias They also did the same to the Pacific Sun when it was converted from the 'Jubilee' apparently it improves the stability of the ship but does nothing for the appearance.
jessica3152 Posted December 26, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2005 I thought the rear extension was to increase the size of the Promenade Deck. P&O have done it to all 3 Pacifics though Sky's is probably the most integrated looking of the three and the big rear Promenade on Sky is a great place to be on lazy sea days. Windrunner I Posted December 26, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 26, 2005 None of the ships (Sky, Sun or Star) have had their Promenade Decks extended in any way, shape or form.

It gives a whole new meaning to the term "Butt Ugly" :)
Windrunner I Posted December 26, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 26, 2005 None of the ships (Sky, Sun or Star) have had their Promenade Decks extended in any way, shape or form. I stand corrected - I just looked at a photo and the Sky did have her promenade deck extended slightly, all the way to the stern.
Gyyp Posted December 26, 2005 #9 Share Posted December 26, 2005 None of the ships (Sky, Sun or Star) have had their Promenade Decks extended in any way, shape or form. When the Sky Princess was converted to the Pacific Sky, the promenade deck was extended over the Childrens wading pool

aussiedisneyfan Posted December 27, 2005 #11 Share Posted December 27, 2005 I am disappointed that the webcam doesn't show passengers. I love watching people at sailaway etc and co-ordinated to wave to friends on the Sun.
Truebliss72 Posted December 28, 2005 #12 Share Posted December 28, 2005 Got to see a photo of it in the paper today with the review about the ship leaving this afternoon. Looks very similar to the Pacific Sun a little smaller. Lovely looking ship though.
