When do you get your Sail and Sign card and other S & S questions?

1) Do we get these cards by mail or at the port before we get on the ship?

2) Do they put your picture on the card?

3) Are we allowed to cap our children's spending on this card, if they are even allowed to use it to charge anything?

4) If I get the CHEERS program and give my brother the card to go garb a drink, will they pick up on that? He could be just going to get my drink while I lay out in my Speedo. :o

5) Do you need to show any other ID when using this card?

6) Can this card be used while at any of the ports you visit?

1) Do we get these cards by mail or at the port before we get on the ship? S&S cards will be in your cabin mailbox in a sealed envelope.

2) Do they put your picture on the card? It's not on the card itself, but when they scan it, your pic pops up on their screen. you take the pic when boarding.

3) Are we allowed to cap our children's spending on this card, if they are even allowed to use it to charge anything? You set up the charging options under the "Manage my booking" option on the Carnival site.

4) If I get the CHEERS program and give my brother the card to go garb a drink, will they pick up on that? He could be just going to get my drink while I lay out in my Speedo. :o I've never bought Cheers but I do know that when they scan your card, your pic shows up so probably wont let him use but like I said I've never bought the package so not 100% sure on that.

5) Do you need to show any other ID when using this card? You only need your DL when getting on the ship at ports. Not for anything on the ship.

6) Can this card be used while at any of the ports you visit?

The only port I've ever been able to use the S&S card is at Half Moon Cay.

On some ships you’ll get your card in your cabin mailbox. Nothing is mailed to your home.

No photo is on your card, it’s not Costco ;). But your photo will pop up when they scan your card.

You can place spending limits at Guest Services.

You’ll get your card right before you enter the ship. They take your picture and imbed it into the card so that security folks, bartenders, and those who scan it can make sure it’s you. You can limit your kids. Talk to guest services about that. I’d personally set them up little cash accounts and use the money as leverage for good behavior. No, you can’t share your drink package. That’s just the rule. Take the card and a form of picture ID with you in port. I usually take my drivers license and seapass card. But on the ship the seapass card is all you’ll need. It opens your room, pays for purchases, gets you drinks.

Not necessarily. They have gone to getting your cards in your mailbox when your cabin is ready on certain ships.

Hi FBW. Any idea which ships they've implemented this on so far? I see anecdotal comments on here about various ships, have you seen anything from CCL themselves on this as to current status?

1. You'll get your S&S card either at check-in or in your mailbox outside your cabin on embark day, depending on the home port.

2. Your picture will show up on the computer screen when your S&S card is scanned. Including when you get on/off the ship and when you go to the bar and order a drink, etc.

3. Pretty sure you can do this online when you do your check-in and set up your charging account.

4. Not sure if you mean it this way, but there's no separate Cheers card. When your S&S card is scanned at the bar, it shows up in the system that you have Cheers.(You also will have a Cheers sticker on your card, but it fades by the end of the week.) We have gotten to know some bartenders very well on cruises who allowed my husband to get both of our drinks without me having to be at the bar, but don't count on it. Especially if your brother does not also have Cheers, and you haven't built a relationship with the bartender/s.

5. No

6. Cheers is not valid on any of the islands, even the "Carnival owned" ones. You do have to show your S&S when making purchases in the shops at the port area, and also to board the ship in port. I do believe you can purchase drinks with your S&S when on "Carnival owned" islands such as Half Moon Cay, but again Cheers will not be valid and you will pay out of pocket.

Have a great cruise!

Vista, Glory for sure and Splendor I’m almost positive. There are more but I don’t remember. I know they are rolling it out to others. There was a thread or two a while back that had the various ships but I don’t have time to do a search right now. I haven’t seen where Carnival has specified them anywhere.

Thanks. I know the implentation is on going, just thought there might be something you were aware of that I was not. [emoji6]

At the port. On some ships, you will get the card when you are onboard and your room is open. On most other ships, you get it at the port before you get on.

2) Do they put your picture on the card?

They take a picture of you and link it to your account so the bartender can see it.

3) Are we allowed to cap our children's spending on this card, if they are even allowed to use it to charge anything?

I'm pretty sure yes, but we have never done it.

Don't bother, it would be better to get the drink, walk away, and give it to him. They would see the picture of you anyway.

5) Do you need to show any other ID when using this card?

No

6) Can this card be used while at any of the ports you visit?

Only Half Moon Cay because it is Carnival's port

I’m on the Magic now and the keys were in our mailbox at the room.

Hi all..does Carnival give you a lanyard ID holder for your S and S card? If not..can someone give me the dimensions so I can purchase them? Thanks!

No. It's credit card sized. Just buy one with a hook thing on the end. You can go to the casino and get a plastic phone cord coil type one for free in the evening but I don't like those.

Do the S&S cards have a hole punched in the corner to hook it on to a lanyard or will it need to go in a plastic sleeve attached to the lanyard?

Breeze is also putting the cards in the mail slots, not at checkin.

Your card will have a hole punched in it, or you can use the plastic sleeve. Me, I prefer to use the hole, the sleeve is a pain in the butt. I also have a lanyard with an extension on it (you know, you pull it out, when you let go the card retracts) that way I don't have to bend down or take my lanyard off to open my cabin door.

so we go to our cabin to find out if we have access to our cabin yet. No card, room not ready? seems a little like gambling, i have a 50/50 chance of a room when I get there. I am used to my room being ready when I boarded on another cruise line. I will be carrying 3 smallish bags with me that I can't have a porter handle, so hope I don't have to lug them around for awhile.

I would expect the room to be ready not too long after I board, is that a fair comment?
