Sandra Thanks for the pics, Sandra. Sky Suites should be interesting. Initially, they had the balcony smaller with the deck plan showing doors and what appeared to be public access in the middle by two doors. Then, they announced that the balconies would be in excess of 1000 sq. Ft. To be the largest at sea, and the diagram and pics added that area in the middle to lounge and watch MUTS. Now, the pics are showing the doors again. Here are 3 pics to try to explain. Wonder which way it will be? We will see. I will post the screenshot of former Plan showing those doors when I find it. Thanks, again. Safe Journeys, Paul
pjrockman Posted September 16, 2019 #328 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Here is the Original Deck Plan before the middle was added to each Sky Suite. Still being shown this way on the Princess Deck Plan, even though it was changed in the Sky Suite description on the Accommodation’s page. Should be interesting... Lucky TGO Posted September 17, 2019 #331 Share Posted September 17, 2019 I’m pretty sure the Sky Princess will be excellent when it’s completed. What is that thing at the swimming pool? It looks like something from The Game of Thrones. ( See Photo ) Tony

mammajamma2013 Posted September 17, 2019 #333 Share Posted September 17, 2019 I am not, it's too big for my taste. Having said that, I've booked a week in October 2020 for Canada/New England. From what I can tell, she's the only Princess ship doing that itinerary and it's the itinerary that iterests me. I love the Grand Class ships and wish one of them was doing this sailing. #love2cruise Posted September 17, 2019 #334 Share Posted September 17, 2019 I may have missed if this question was ask before, but what is the pool in the front of the ship, looks like deck 7 or 8 area? Thought maybe was for the crew.

I have gone on Royal, cruised 4 of Celebrity ships...these new ships are missing the pont... traditional cruising is what many of us like... stick with the basics... that wins all the time. I don't want edgy... I don't need technology,. I like to have a nice main deck, good service, good food, nice cabins, good entertainment... that is what works. That works for you. But I think you guys are missing the point. You are not the customer Princess is looking for for the future. To survive Princess has to replace the customer as it ages. These new updates are what attract a younger set. Whilst current cruisers are complaining about coffee cards that have been sitting in their junk drawer, comfortable chairs that are not bar stools, and how they pride themselves not using excursion decks or casino, new younger cruisers are spending cash in bars, casinos etc. They want new ships with more food options (foodies) and flexibility that the MDR experience does not provide , entertainment that is a notch above what Princess provides, something to do after 10pm. Princess is starting its transition to a new customer base that spends, like Celebrity as done. With HAL taking the "traditional" cruise market, this leaves Princes without a brand slot. This is why Princess is making changes.

These are the "sideways" interior cabins, I believe, on some decks. Have seen pictures of them on this site. Never had one, but have one booked on Sky Princess Jan 11, 2020 on Carib deck 10. Soooo looking forward to that cruise!!

Princess is starting its transition to a new customer base that spends, like Celebrity as done. With HAL taking the "traditional" cruise market, this leaves Princes without a brand slot. This is why Princess is making changes. The Royal Class dips into more modern amenities such as MedallionNet, new upscale Restaurants, MedallionClass™, and Club Class, without sacrificing all of things that traditional cruisers (middle-aged and Seniors) are used to partaking. Last I heard, two of the biggest age groups: Baby Boomers (55-75 year olds) and Gen Xers (40-54 year olds) are not going to stop aging today (no jokes, please). So, in my opinion, the collective 76 Mil + 82 Mil people in those two age brackets will fill all of the Princess Ships nicely for many years to come. A flaw in the above thinking is that we don’t all change a bit as we age and Princess is picking some of the trends created by the younger of those aging and keeping other tried and true things that make Princess the choice of older cruisers. Funny, there will always be lots of people in the 50 to 80 age brackets. Also, very rarely am I in an empty casino on Princess. Old money still spends in Casinos. We love all the different Princess Ships, but really love the Royal Class (9 Cruises on the Royal and Regal) and 4 scheduled on the either the Sky and Enchanted. This is just my opinion. In case you wonder, I am on the border of the above age groups. Looking forward to the Sky. Safe Journeys, Paul
john_galt Posted September 17, 2019 #346 Share Posted September 17, 2019 (edited) This will be my first time back on Princess since Club Class came into being. I've dined in Blu on the Celebrity Constellation (AquaClass). It will be interesting to compare/contrast the two experiences. CC is more or less a private entrance and streamlined seating with a couple extras on the menu.

Club Class on Princess has the same menu as MDR with additional 1 or 2 items and the seating located on the side of MDR while Blu on Celebrity is a separate venue with it's own menu

Have cruised for 40 years, on 9 different lines, well over 60 cruises, one of the reasons I cruised different lines is I got a different experiences.. now Princess, Celebrity, HAL, Cunard and even NCL all look the same... no reason to try different lines at all. Glad I did most of my cruising in days gong bye, better product on all lines than today. The splash and technology does not impress me one bit... may be these young folks who do not know much are... so be it.. I will go out of my home port and be satisfied... no need to fly to somewhere for the same product.
