Not necessarily. I got over 12,000 points on my Arpil cruise a year ago, but did not get an offer for an Ultra cruise. Could be that there were many more gamblers that got many more than me and I did not make the cut.

 

Also to add to some of the posts about play. I am a craps player only. I usually play $500 a session at craps. Will play every night with that buy-in. 2 sessions on sea days. I always buy in at the table so the boxman and pit boss see my buy-in. I usually bet 4 place number per roller (4,6,8,10) for an $80 total. Press my first hit and take the money every other hit. Typical session will last 3-4 hrs.

 

 

I have taken home as much as $5000 and have lost as much as $3000 for a week long cruise. Average is probably about even or a slight win for most of my cruises. But it's my fun money and I don't smoke or drink, so I have that going for me.

 

 

Also, they way I look at it. I break even most cruises or maybe win or lose a little. I get a lot of fun out of playng in a week for my money. Get a lot of perks and reduced cruise cost. In the end, I think it's worth it.

 

 

I used to gamble at 1/5th this level. $100 sessions. But that won't get the perks. In the end, each gambler has to comfortable with there level of play. I am ok with it.

Hawk, if my conjecture is close to correct, I would guess at your level of play you typically earn the DOU card the first day ? It's a shame you don't drink ! Do they offer you an alternative ?

Thank you so much for the info. I am a slots only player and on my last cruise I finished at a little over 9000 points (4 day cruise).

 

I am sailing in July next and did not know that I would automatically get the DOU card. Do I just ask the host for it?

I don't know the answer to this, I have never earned it the first time, much less for a follow-up cruise ! Hopefully someone else will chime in

On my cruise last month, there was a notecard in the room indicating the DOU card was waiting for me, and when I went to the casino, they came right to me where I was playing almost immediately. Good luck!

I should have said I don't drink alcohol drinks. Being diabetic is a real hardship sometimes. I still take the DOU card, as I will get Diet Coke for myself, but I will order a alcohol drink once in a while and leave it on the shelf below the table. My wife will come by and it always seems to disappear!;p

On a Premier, you get the DOU card first day, but when I don't book a Premier (which is rare), I usually get it the second day.

You know how you get a free slot tournement play if you get so many points on a premier cruise? Well, I asked if I met their requirements and Casino host checked a list. It showed 12,xxx points behind my name so I got a free play.

Ok, getting off the subject a bit, but here is another little trick and don't know if it really works or not.

I usually buy in for $1000 first night of the cruise. Gets the dealers & boxman's attention. Every other session, $500.

I tend to cover up my chips while playing and over the coarse of the session, I will pocket a $25 chip or two from time to time. After a good session, I may have $300-$400 in my pocket while my rack still looks good. When I cash out at the table, it looks like I may have lost some or not made as much. Do they feel sorry for me maybe just a little? Or if lost money fits into the equation, maybe I get a little bit more credit? Maybe.

I can't complain much though. My cruise in Dec 2016 was a Premier, which I paid a total of $1115 for an Interior Deck 7 ( got $500 cash in Casino- net cost for 7 day for 2, $615).

 

On that cruise I won the Free cruise giveaway on the last night in the casino. It was for Free cruise on Breeze and enrty into the $100,000 Blackjack tourney in April. Wife was upset, because she still works and couldn't get the time off. Took my daughter instead.

I love it when they surprise you like that. Makes you feel like you are special. Last cruise, casino host came up from behind me while I was playing and gave me Steakhouse dinner. Included wine too.

 

That is why you always give them your card. They track not only your play, but also where you are in the casino. It must trigger an alert to them when you arrive because it has happen more than once to me for DOU card, dinners, free wine in the MDR.

Haha, I do that too a little bit. When I'm up, I inconspicuously palm chips to my hubby under the table when he comes by. Women's clothes often don't have pockets, grrrrrrr. Especially dresses/skirts which is what I'm usually wearing after dinner when I typically play. I do it mainly only to keep my "winnings" off the table. But ... I don't like to color up at the table when I leave. I don't like them to know exactly what I'm leaving with. I don't know if it makes any difference at all.

 

Was the list a printed/handwritten list ? Or on the computer ? I will sometimes ask how many entries I have in the random drawing where the names go by on the screen (1 entry per 100 points). Sometimes I'll ask my time/average bet to make sure I'm being recorded accurately.

 

LOL about those drinks disappearing. It's funny how that happens ?! ; )

I understand that to a person who knows nothing about the casino offers will post, "How do I get these casino Offers?".

 

So here goes.

Most of the offers come to us after devoting 1) lots of money played in the casinos, and 2) lots of time playing in the casinos.

No to say that Carnival doesn't send out offers to new players, but most of these come after you have played a lot in the casino and always give them your S&S card so you can be tracked how much you bet, and how much time you play.

Now you notice I did not say "How much you lose". That can be part of it, but it is more a combination of time and wager size to get these offers.

To expand even more on that excellent answer and get into the specifics . . .

 

Put your card in the slot machine every single time and leave it in there while you are playing. Hand your card to the table dealers every single time you start playing (not only when you are getting chips!!)

 

SLOTS

You get 1 point for each $2.50 you have played through the machine.

500 points = $1250 played through, 1000 points = $2500 played through, 1500 points = $3750 played through, etc, etc

 

For example, if you put in $20 and lose it all, you will get 8 points. If you win $50 on that initial $20 and keep playing the initial 20 plus the 50 in winnings through the machine, then you will get 28 points. OR - ever how many points, based on ever how long all that money lasts if you keep getting small winnings along the way and keep playing them. If you hit it big and won $1000 on that initial 20 and kept playing it through the different slot machines in the casino over the course of your cruise, you would get 408 points (or more including small winnings along the way). Even though you actually only ever put in $20 of your own money.

 

You need 500 points for $5 back given as slot play, 1000 points for $10 back - both automatic on the machine. You need 1500 points on a 7-day cruise to get the first on-board comp which is the Drinks on Us card. More points after that will get more notice and more comps like deliveries to the room, steakhouse, spa, etc. 5000 points will give you DOU card right from the first day of your next cruise as well.

 

TABLES

It's all about average bet x time played. They don't rate it as "points" like are earned on slot machines, but to keep it simple I am going to use "points" to make my comparison. I think tables/games with higher odds (worse for you) will earn more "points" ?? Also, I think faster games may earn more points (for example, if roulette plays more spins per hour than blackjack plays hands played per hour) ?? But not sure, this is my guessing. The information on table games is not readily available online. I think you need approx 200 points for DOU card on table games, but I am NOT sure about this. IF this is accurate then .....

 

$10 per hand x 20 hours = 200

$20 per hand x 10 hours = 200

$25 per hand x 8 hours = 200

$50 per hand x 4 hours = 200

$100 per hand x 2 hours = 200

(per hand would be whatever they rate as your "average bet" whether thats betting $10 hand of blackjack, $10 in chips on roulette, $10 on craps table, etc)

 

NOTE: your casino "points" have nothing to do with the sailing days you have with Carnival. For example, if you have sailed 2 cruises each 7 days you will have 14 VIFP Points, or if you sail 4 cruises of 7 days you will have 28 VIFP points (and you will be Gold rated). https://www.carnival.com/loyalty/benefits.aspx

I had several Casino Pack & Play offers last fall from October to December. Some were for $25 per person with $50 onboard credit per stateroom. Most of the cruises were a couple of days away but some were a couple of weeks or even a month away. Most were from Florida ports. Many were 7 and at least one was an 8 day cruise. I was unable to take advantage of any of these offers because we had family commitments during that time period. Things such as grandson's baptism, invited 22 people for Thanksgiving dinner, husband's sports watching schedule, visiting relatives. I believe the reason so many of these offers were out there was that Carnival was trying to fill their ships as a result of the recent hurricanes. Many ports were closed, itineraries changed, and I would guess many people canceled their cruises and many more people did not book. It was a supply and demand thing. I only play roulette in the casino and always hand my card to the dealer. I only play a few hours and have a budget. I believe Carnival made these offers to me because they assume I would gamble and spend money - rather than have an empty cabin. I regret that I was unable to take advantage of such a great deal - but that's life. I do not wish the misfortune of hurricane damage to anyone so I don't want to wish for more deals in the future.

Hopefully the fall and spring ultra cruises are announced soon, we aren't scheduling the fall/spring until they are.:)

And we average 1 cruise a month outside of summer months which we don't cruise!

In 49 cruises i havent paid for one in my last 5 years, and i havent gambled more than $100.00 per cruise in the last 1.5 years, however i am still getting the free offers...

Reminds me of people who tell me that they got last minute cruise for $99. Then you ask how they found that deal they can't provide any details. Or it's always a friend of theirs who gets $99 deals. I'm able to get to Florida port the same day and have never found or been offered cruises last minute at significant discount.
