porthole21 Posted March 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2018 Hello all....I am in the beginning planning phase for our first Med cruise. I know we want to be in country a few days ahead of time to get adjusted and see Rome, however i was hoping for some hotel recommendations? Or resources for the same? Also, how would you recommend getting from our hotel in Rome to the Port? Thank you in advance.....:D
Clarea Posted March 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2018 The port of call forum has much info on hotels and transportation: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
soccerdad72 Posted March 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 14, 2018 Spend some time looking through threads on the Italy board - that's where I got most of my recommendations for our Med Cruise. We used Rome in Limo to go to the port from the hotel. And we stayed at Hotel Golden for the pre cruise stay - a nice little boutique hotel not far from Villa Borghese and an easy walk to much of central Rome. Crazy planning mom Posted March 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2018 Hello all....I am in the beginning planning phase for our first Med cruise. Also, how would you recommend getting from our hotel in Rome to the Port? Thank you in advance.....:D We chose to stay a small family run hotel called the Hotel Golden http://www.hotelgoldenrome.com/ It was not in the center of Rome but we liked it because it was in a quieter area near the Borghese Gardens, Villa Borghese, and a short walk to the Spanish Steps. When I was doing research, this hotel in a different neighborhood also was highly recommended http://www.hotelcampodefiori.com/ We used Ground Link for transportation to/from the airport although I believe there is also a train that goes to the airport. We also recommend this company as we used them for a tour. http://www.romecabs.com/
choppe Posted March 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2018 We stayed at a boutique hotel - Hotel Campo de Fiori - while in Rome in 2016 for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Central location, right next to market, nice roof top balcony.

Rare ladylemondrop Posted March 14, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 14, 2018 We have used Bobs Limos and Romecabs for transfers from Rome, both excellent, Bobs limos was my favourite simply because they responded very quickly to emails. For hotel check out Albergo Del Senato, boutique hotel with view of Pantheon. It comes highly recommended on trip advisor. http://www.albergodelsenato.it/index.php
scottraveller Posted March 14, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 14, 2018 We're doing a cruise out of Civitavechia later this year and we have booked the A.Roma hotel just outside Rome. It has an airport pick up so that's helpful as well as a daily shuttle into the Vatican and Rome. Getting to Civitavechia isn't an issue as it's a cab ride from the hotel down to the port. I think it takes about 50 mins to get to the port from the hotel.
