cruisingwithfriends Posted March 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2018 My family of 5 will be in Grand Cayman on the Carnival Dream next week. We have booked an excursion of mangrove kayaking and Stingray City. It states the maximum weight is 230 lbs per person. At the time of booking, my husband was sure he'd get below that, and is now hovering within 5 lbs of that goal, but will undoubtedly gain a few pounds on the ship in the days prior to arriving in Grand Cayman. Anyone have experience with the Mangrove Kayaking? How strict are the weight limits and will they make him get on a scale? I've read other operators have a 500 lb limit per kayak. We're considering canceling this excursion and booking someting else. Any advice?
drew sailbum Posted March 27, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2018 I took my mother on this trip and I was quite a bit over 230lb. Mom is not a tiny woman. But there was no issue. Seas were quite clam that day. I can imagine it might have been trickier if the water was choppy.

So no actual scales to check weight? 😊
