girlzillla Posted April 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2018 We are cruising next week and we've never brought wine onboard before. It says we can bring two bottles each room. These might be stupid questions... Do we take the wine to dinner with us? Do they keep it? Is there a corking fee or re-corking fee? Thanks in advance. SbbquilterUT Posted April 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2018 We just open and pour a glass in our cabin, then take it with us. There is a corkage fee if opened in restaurant but I am not sure it is always charged.
Clarea Posted April 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2018 The corkage fee applies if you bring the bottle to any public venue, whether it is open or not. However, they don't seem very anxious to charge this fee.
TravisP Posted April 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2018 Just make sure it is a 750ml bottle.
Ilparrothead Posted April 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2018 I was on the Allure last week and brought a few bottles of wine to the dining room that I had already opened in the cabin. I was never charged any fees.
Ilparrothead Posted April 6, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2018 Also, they do keep the bottles and have them on the table when you come to dinner the next night (providing you have some leftover ;)

mek Posted April 6, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 6, 2018 Yes, they will keep the bottles if you like. So if I open the bottle in my room and bring it to the dining room, they will keep it for the next meal? I had no idea they would do that. I drink old vine Zinfandel - not easy to find on a ship. gerif Posted April 7, 2018 #14 Share Posted April 7, 2018 But I don't want to pay the fee. The corkage fee has absolutely nothing to do with who opens the bottle (look it up). In any event, it has been reported that waiter have not been charging the fee.
mek Posted April 8, 2018 #15 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Royal usually carries Cline OVZ. I have never noticed that, so thanks for tip - I'll look for it on my next cruise.

I live in the same port we will embark (Barcelona), so I think to carry on 2 bottles and my husband another 2 and enter separate :halo:

robtbob Posted April 9, 2018 #19 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Take them on your carry on bag. We have them on the balcony at your time. The steward will give you an ice bucket. Remember to take a bottle opener if they have a cork.

Yes, I saw this on sailing in NCL Epic. But I can take the bottles from my home ;p At entrance of terminal they only check arms, but I had the doubt if, upon entering the ship, they checked you again
Clarea Posted April 9, 2018 #23 Share Posted April 9, 2018 ... but I had the doubt if, upon entering the ship, they checked you again Most of the time we have not been checked when getting on the ship in Barcelona, except for on Vision a couple of years ago. As we boarded, the ship did another x-ray of carry-ons.
girlzillla Posted April 26, 2018 Author #24 Share Posted April 26, 2018 wine update: we brought 6 bottles on board - 3 rooms. We were charged the uncorking fee for three of them. This was a great way to save some money. thanks
