Your On Board/Sea Day Tote?

Recommended Posts

What do you carry around on board the ship on sea days or such to carry your "stuff". A purse doesn't seem quite right yet not quite sure what to do. I carry my Kindle for books to read, a chapstick or such, reading glasses, sunglasses, a small sub block stick, and a few other personal odds and ends. What do you carry? What works well for you? Would love to see pictures if you have them. Thanks much!

PS: Big gratitude for the ideas for packing with just a carry-on--an earlier inquiry here. I had many great ideas and then a friend who travels extensively came on Saturday and I am packed!

If I'm going to the pool I carry all the things you mentioned in a tote with my water bottle, etc (I don't really swim, just sit and read my Kindle and soak up the sun, lol). The rest of the time I only keep my SeaPass on a lanyard (touristy, I know, but efficient ;p)

I guess if you need the other stuff at random times I would get a really small "clutch-type" purse with a strap. Something that easily goes "cross-body" but isn't bulky (it's not like you need a wallet).

I use a small cross body purse on board for my cruise card, glasses, lipstick etc. If I want to carry my kindle or book or something bigger, I either use the tote bag the ship gives you, or a small light - weight nylon tote I take with me on the cruise. It folds up into a tiny roll and hold lots.

About 30 years ago several of my co-workers gave me a shaving kit for Christmas. The kit came in a large letter case.

As I had a full beard and never shaved there was no need for me to have the razor, etc. I have used the case as a vacation traveling bag.I keep in it my camera ,binoculars, sunglasses, lip balm and suntan lotion.

I use a beach tote if I am going to pool. Otherwise I don't carry any sort of bag or purse around the ship with me, I just stick my Sea Pass in my pocket. In the evening I usually carry a small wristlet (wallet on a strap) that is just big enough to hold my lipstick, Sea Pass and casino chips.

Going ashore, if we are doing some sort of beach/resort day I take my beach tote. If we are just going to walk around and have lunch or drinks or do a little shopping, I take a small cross body purse.

I use the much maligned lanyard for around the ship.

Evening bag (purse) ..clutch or shoulder strap for evening wear.

Leather or straw shoulder bag that can be worn across my body for most shore excursions.

Heavy duty, lined cotton tote for towels etc for beach/ pool.

Different things for different purposes.

I have a tacky gold lame tote that I got as a gift with purchase somewhere long ago. It somehow became my cruise tote. It takes almost no room in suitcase and I use it mostly for the pool. It gets all the sunscreen, chair clips, swim goggles etc.

I have a synthetic straw tote that I bought because it matched my sun hat. It too is very light and takes minimal room in a suitcase. I use this for toting around the ship. It is too big really for what I need but it works. Sunglasses, hand sanitizer, ship daily programs etc. It goes to the MDR and around the ship with me.

I pack one or more evening clutches - which I take to dinner, the show, and the casino.

Finally, I take a small cross-body style purse which I bought from Walmart. It's red pleather and is the perfect size for airline tickets, passports, luggage keys, hand sanitizer and other necessities that I need for travel. It's small enough that it gets tucked in to a carry on so it doesn't count as a personal item. It often goes straight into the safe, but sometimes I will use it in port.

I keep my card on a lanyard for easy access. I don’t want to dig for it every time I want a drink.

I carry my stuff in a tote bag. At minimum, I need my sunglasses, book, camera, and sunscreen. It’s also nice to have a place to stash my flip flops and clothes while I’m in the pool. My camera is waterproof and I have a waterproof pouch for my phone so that they aren’t unattended.

I carry a nice tote bag (hot pink coach bag) - and put everything I might need inside - so I don't have to keep running back to the cabin to get something: book, glasses, sunglasses, sunscreen, tissues, gloss, notepad/pen, sun hat, fun times, ipod/earbuds, water bottle - works great for me - and I always have what I need with me :) (I typically use it as my airplane/under the seat bag - so dual purpose!).

In the evenings I carry a small crossbody - black or white - depending on my outfit - with card, lipgloss, glasses....

Around the ship -- say, to breakfast or an activity -- nothing. I only bring shorts /dresses that have pockets, and I usually don't carry anything except my ship ID. If I'm going to a show a little early and think I might have "down time", I might carry my Kindle in its protective case ... or I might not.

To the pool: I have a small tote bag (a little bigger than a gallon of milk turned on its side), which can hold my Kindle, sunscreen, and other small essentials.

Off the ship: I use a large canvas tote bag as my carry-on, and my husband brings a day pack -- depending upon our plans, we share one or the other of these items for our island day.

That is just so cute!!

And it really holds a lot! I usually have: my sunglasses, my reading glasses, my cruise card, a small comb, brush and mirror, an 8-inch tablet AND a paperback book. I would imagine that it's not big enough for shoes or anything like that, but it's great for my needs.

I love Laurel Burch! That bag is great. I just acquired a beautiful silk LB scarf that is going in my suitcase today!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I found a Baggalini that will hold my Kindle and all the other little things that keep me from running back and forth to my cabin. I bought an RFID blocking, rip-proof and with locking zippers bag on E-Bags that is my off the ship cross-body bag. Evenings I use a small hand made needlepoint clutch that I bought in Ireland.

If I’m going to pool (or beach) I use a beach tote. I have a bunch of them but favor my recycled rice bags from Cambodia in bright colors. They’re lightweight, waterproof and have pockets for small stuff.

If I’m just going for a meal, shopping or anything else on board I only carry my sea pass card in a lanyard or in a pocket.

On a cruise I never use my usual big tote purse so I leave it at home and use the beach bag as a carry-on tote when boarding ship for all the stuff you need til your bag arrives.

Inside it I carry a small cross-body purse to use for shore excursions which serves as a wallet also.

I use a Vera Bradley "Vera" tote for our sea days when we go to the pool. I usually load it down with as much as I can fit in there for the four of us. When we do beach type excursions, I use this bag as well. When we do ports that basically just travel or sight see, I use a Tory Burch cross body type small bag.

I bought this bag before our last cruise and found it was perfect for me! It had more than plenty space for my Kindle, husband's book, phone, ear buds, Yeti tumbler, sunglasses case and more. Outer zipper, zip top and inner zipper compartment with slots for cups or water bottles on each end. Very light weight and easy to carry on shoulder. Clipped handles and my towel to pool chair using Boca Clips keeping it from getting wet as it dangled from the back of the chair.

Great ideas. I don't carry any tote onboard...only my room card. If I need something, I simply go back to my room. I take books on the cruise, but rarely read them, as I end up watching the people around me and enjoying that atmosphere.

I love this thread! I am leaving for Alaska in 31 days and not sure what I am taking yet. I sell bags/purses so I have a ton to choose from!

I want to use my phone as my camera and not all of my clothes will have pockets so I am thinking of using a small crossbody I have. I'll use it on the ship and for excursions and sightseeing. I'll probably bring a tote too for going to the pool/lounge chairs!

For around the ship, I use a small Vera Bradley zip-up wristlet. I typically carry my room key, lip balm, a couple of tissues, reading glasses, and my phone (camera.) Also, I can fold the daily activities list and carry it.

I use a casual tote bag with pockets as my carryon with a small crossbody purse or wristlet in it along with other carryon stuff. I then use the tote bag in port. I usually pack one of the large lightweight foldable totes (takes up very little space and weight) which can use as a second tote in port if needed and also I use it to transport laundry.

I have an approximately 5 by 7 flat crossbody purse that I bought onboard for $10. I use it to carry my iPhone that I use either for the kindle app to read or as a camera. I also carry chapstick, eye drops, Kleenex and my ship’s card.

In port I carry a small purse and add various necessities such as a camera.

We take a backpack for water bottles, snacks, sweatshirts, etc.
