jclem Posted May 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2018 we are on NCL in June and our ship is docking in rostock, we were hoping to rent bicycles in Warnemunde and ride along the coast. Any suggestions on how to get to Warmemunde?

lynneh Posted May 1, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2018 You can get the train or there's a ferry that takes you to Warnemunde.
GradUT Posted May 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2018 Getting to Warnemuende from the Rostock cruise port is possible, but not quite as easy as the two previous posts indicate. I researched this well before our Baltic cruise a couple of years ago and found that there is a bus that runs from just outside the Rostock cruiseport to the Luetten Klein rail station where you can then catch the S-bahn to Warnemuende. (As it turns out, we did not have to do this because our cruise line, Holland America, contracted for a ferry to take us for free to Warnemuende. It is my understanding that there is not regular ferry service from the Rostock cruiseport to Warnemuende, but you can check this out.) In any event, here is a link to the Rostock cruiseport webpage that describes this process (bottom of page). There is a link on that page to a route planner so that you can see how long it will take to get from "Rostock Seehafen" (the cruiseport) to "Warnemuende" and when the various buses and S-bahns run. https://www.verkehrsverbund-warnow.de/news/visiting-rostock-warnemuende.html As you will see, you will take the 45 bus from outside the port (Rostock Seehafen) to the Luetten Klein rail station. You will have to walk 4 minutes to get to the S-bahn station. Then you take the S-bahn to Warnemuende. The entire trip takes 27 minutes and costs 2.10 euros per person each way. We rented bikes in Warnemuende and had a great ride along the coast-hugging bike path. Hope you enjoy it too!
