Tiger0613 Posted May 5, 2018 #26 Share Posted May 5, 2018 They also need to stock 3X, 4X, and 5X shirts. I don't need those sizes, but I know someone that would love to buy a Carnival shirt if they actually offered a 5X. She doesn't even bother looking at the shirts anymore. SMSACE6 Posted May 5, 2018 #29 Share Posted May 5, 2018 I have on occasion found a thing or two in those shops that I still have and enjoy. I don't particularly look for things there though, and spend very little time in there looking, the only time I found it terrible was when I got stuck in there during one of those frenzied "sell off" sales. Could not get out of there fast enough!
Tiger0613 Posted May 5, 2018 #30 Share Posted May 5, 2018 I only buy a ship paper postcard and a shiny ship magnet postcard. That is $7.45. My mom buys those two items and the silver wreath ship ornament. Her total is $19.40. Those are the only things we regularly buy. I did buy the whale tail ornament and a $10 shawl last year. That was 21.95.
sgttami Posted May 6, 2018 #31 Share Posted May 6, 2018 Someone must have thought the Fun Shops were great...4 years ago on Splendor a lady got arrested for stealing. They took her off in handcuffs when we got to Port Canaveral... Can't imagine jail time for a bunch of trinkets...lol
Rare mskaufman Posted May 6, 2018 #32 Share Posted May 6, 2018 Just like everything else on the cruise there are things that some people like and others do not. Last cruise we had some extra OBC on the last night and could not find anything in the Fun Shops. However, others love them. We always find it entertaining to see what they are selling. Rare KmomChicago Posted May 6, 2018 #33 Share Posted May 6, 2018 Yes I agree they are pretty pathetic as resort gift shops go. . . luckily I am not a shopper by nature anyway so it doesn't really impact my vacation, but even the selection of trinkets to bring home as gifts is meagre. I guess the liquor selection is okay if you are into that duty free thing. Really dislike the watches and other supposed high-end stuff with their smarmy foreign model type salespersons. But again, not there to shop at all anyway.
Rare SRQbeachgirl Posted May 6, 2018 #34 Share Posted May 6, 2018 So am I the only one who goes on a cruise and comes home with five new designer handbags from the onboard shops? That's not an indication of a handbag addiction, right? Right?!?
riclop Posted May 6, 2018 #35 Share Posted May 6, 2018 First off I love cruising and I love Carnival (and RCI). I love LOVE to shop. I shop for new clothes, new shoes, makeup, nail polish, jewelry, hair products, etc. before I cruise (and in port). You name it, I shop for it. I believe that the majority of women in my age range (mid 30's) like to as well. And I don't mean brand snob shopping for bags or mega expensive stuff. However, the Fun Shops I feel have always been really sorry excuses for shopping. They have weird T-shirts, odd jewelry chains on wheels, tons of perfume, rubber flip flops, and cheap jewelry that falls apart or turns green quickly. I feel like Carnival is REALLY missing out on a market of people (like me) who are looking to spend money on vacation....am I the only one? You need help if you are going on a cruise to shop. SkyPiglet Posted May 6, 2018 #36 Share Posted May 6, 2018 In six cruises, my total on-board fun-shop purchases (not counting sweets pre-ordered as surprises for my wife) include a pair of swim trunks for my honeymoon because I forgot mine, various candies at Cherry on Top, and a fun-ship funnel magnet for my desk drawer at work. To be fair, I would be in a boat-load (no pun intended) of trouble for not having swim trunks on my honeymoon :') So I am not excessively bothered by the Fun Shops one way or the other, but I was glad for the save on the swim trunks. FSHLOT Posted May 6, 2018 #37 Share Posted May 6, 2018 The main thing we ever buy is a cast metal replica of the ship, and some other smaller gifts for kids, but not much. Oh yeah, cigarettes too...lol The shops are cool to browse through.
jayowl Posted May 6, 2018 #38 Share Posted May 6, 2018 People say a lot of negative about the stuff they sell. But when it comes to an effy giveaway or the t-shirts go on sale for 3 for $20. People loose their minds and act like Black Friday fighting over merchandise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

AmberTeka Posted May 6, 2018 #46 Share Posted May 6, 2018 (edited) I like the shops. I forgot to bring hair spray one cruise and I was happy to pay $22 for a can. I buy the Pandora bracelets for my daughter when her family is not with us and she likes them. My watch stopped once. bought a Fossil watch at a good price, and I loved that watch. I take my grand daughter to Cherries on top when she is with us, and take her into the shops and let her buy one toy. ( we go every sea day) ' Their perfumes and such are not any higher than the duty free shops. I don't shop a lot ,but I manage to drop some cash in the shops each cruise. Pretty happy with what I have bought. Edited May 6, 2018 by AmberTeka
Lady_Bayou Posted May 6, 2018 #47 Share Posted May 6, 2018 The shop reminds me of one of the shops in every big casino lobby. They sell essentially the same exact things, jist different logo. May be the same company, like someone mentioned. *~*Let's Cruise*~*

That's not an indication of a handbag addiction, right? Right?!? I share your addiction. There used to be a small shop in St. Thomas, in the duty free area where ships used to dock. that sold Fossil handbags at a decent discount. I have bought some lovely stuff there.
