Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted May 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2018 So, now that I got my 15% off gift cards from ebay (thanks to the good folks here!), I'm ready to buy Cheers. In general, I prefer to use gift cards ASAP (especially digital ones), as it seems safer (don't know if this is fact or perception, to be honest). But, our cruise is not until 3 months, and life being what it is, my wife could get pregnant by then (we're not trying, but, well....) So, if we did get Cheers now, and she were to become pregnant before the cruise, would we be able to get our money back? I've looked for the policy on their website, but couldn't find it. Can someone point it out? I'd prefer not to practice abstinence for 3 months in order to protect my investment in Cheers!

Many of those are insured for 45 days to 1 year. For authorized sellers of the card (including PayPal digital gifts) there is no danger to waiting, other than potentially forgetting about/losing a card. In my experience, Carnival will cancel add-ons, excluding insurance, before the sail date without issue.

jdoc2010 Posted May 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2018 If you use a gift card to purchase cheers and cancel cheers, the refund wil be issued back on another gift card. It may take several weeks to get the refund. Sent from my SM-G950U using Forums mobile app
Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted May 9, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted May 9, 2018 Thanks! I'll get it today. I guess another benefit of getting it ASAP is price protection against a possible price increase.
lizardhowson Posted May 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2018 But' date=' our cruise is not until 3 months, and life being what it is, my wife could get pregnant by then (we're not trying, but, well....) Thanks, but we're actually in separate cabins. 3 kids with a max of 4/cabin on the Pride. So, we would not both need to cancel Cheers.
weezandleah Posted May 9, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 9, 2018 I bought the gift cards and then used them to purchase cruise cash. That way it's on my account when I board. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Forums mobile app

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Forums mobile app I'm thinking about doing this also to pay for tips. With excursions and cheers pre paid I won't have much inn board expenses. But if an excursion/ port is cancelled for weather, and I get a refund on my card, would auto tips get pulled from that or cruise cash? Sent from my SM-G930P using Forums mobile app If an excursion/port is cancelled for weather, that should be refundable OBC. Since cruise cash is non-refundable, charges should go against it first. Refunds are made in the way they were paid, so you would likely receive a new gift card with the refund amount sent to your address on file after the cruise. Some people use the casino to cash out all OBC. On our last cruise we applied a $500 gift card to our account, had $50 non-refundable OBC from our booking, and ~$50 refundable OBC from (assuming) port fee reductions. We had ~$140 left on our account at the end of the cruise and it was returned on a new gift card sent to our house via Fed Ex. We disembarked on a Sunday and it arrived Tuesday morning. If there is less than $10 remaining it might be kept as a donation to St. Jude - they do this with cash accounts.
