windlicht Posted May 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Hey you all! Has anyone of you organized or participated in a cabin crawl before? What would be the best day and time to do this?
Até Posted May 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) There's a lot of great information in the CC ask a general question section: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search.php?searchid=128543756 One MSC specific is the difficulty with the semi-standard of arranging the crawl to take place right after the Meet & Mingle because MSC can vary that date, time and location of the M&M based on how many people are signed up. Since you cannot be totally sure of the M&M timing I would schedule the crawl independently. The M&M will usually be a sea day in the early afternoon with possibly not enough time for a crawl afterwards due to some people having early dinner, so I would pick a sea day an hour or two before lunch. Another problem is setting a meet-up point as on sea days many lounges, bars and other venues are being used for ship activities or will be very busy and there can be difficulty finding/identifying each other for the crawl. I suggest picking a meet point that will be empty at your time. An example for 10am meet would be La Boheme on the Port side - Starboard side is often used for crafts. It's usually empty. Another place would be the Champagne Bar as it's dead most of the time, especially before lunch. If you have a large enough group you can contact the cruise or hotel director and ask for a venue to be reserved before or after the crawl depending on your group's needs - gift exchange, poker run, bar meet-up, general group socializing, etc.... MSC and the current Seaside management staff are very supportive of CC member events. ETA: You may need a complete cabin list of all who plan to attend as you would need to leave notes to tell fellow crawlers of any plans you made once on the ship.
