Rare John&LaLa Posted June 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2018 They're back. At least in our cabin. [emoji6] Oasis Deck 6 Starboard Spacious Balconey. They are covered from the sheets with a synthetic cover. We also have two of the thin pads we've seen on other ships lately. Very comfortable Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

Rare John&LaLa Posted June 19, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted June 19, 2018 What are the thin pads ... and do you need to request them? They are kind of like thin quilts. I think they were designed to mask the crack between the mattresses. Theyve been around forever Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

2chiefs Posted June 19, 2018 #11 Share Posted June 19, 2018 Wonder if it has anything to do with being pinnicale Nope. We are Diamond+ and it was on our bed on a Central Park Balcony this past May 7 Oasis cruise. It was already on the bed. We didn't request it. BTW, we are both retired Navy as well. Sallie - 1995 and me 1988.

Rare brillohead Posted June 19, 2018 #13 Share Posted June 19, 2018 I was on Harmony a couple weeks ago. Lowly Platinum (now Emerald after this cruise). Had the beds separated, and noticed that each twin bed had one of what people are calling the "thin pads" on it, folded in two to make it twice as thick. The "thin pad" is just what used to be considered a Mattress Pad back in the olden days. It's what goes between your mattress and your fitted sheet, if you were raised in a civilized world. Back when mattresses had buttons on them, they provided a barrier so the buttons didn't bite you in the butt in your sleep. These days, they are usually made similar to a fitted sheet (click here for an example), with an elasticized edging that fits down over the sides of the mattress to hold it in place. The ones that Royal uses don't have the fitted edging, so they can be folded in half and used on a separated twin-bed. We didn't ask for them, but our steward supplied them automatically. I don't know if we originally had two mattress pads on the king-sized bed, or if he brought in an additional one to put on the second bed when he separated them. SbbquilterUT Posted June 19, 2018 #18 Share Posted June 19, 2018 On Explorer last month our lowly interior cabin had a pad about 2” thick in the mattress which made the bed very comfortable.
