david_sobe Posted July 5, 2018 #26 Share Posted July 5, 2018 Use it to cover your daily auto gratuities and then get spa passes. These will definitely use it all up.

I'm likely missing a nomenclature nuance here... but I asked NCL directly on this and they told me that the OBC cannot be used to pay 'gratuities'... is there a particular 'mechanism' that is applicable here to do this and avoid the 'no'? From what I understand you could cash out that OBC in the casino, a 3% fee will apply. When you get the cash from the casino you can then do as you please with the cash including paying the daily service charges/gratuities.

These will definitely use it all up. There is confusion regarding the NCL mandatory daily charge. Daily Service Charge (DSC) is currently $15.00 pp/day and $18.00 pp/day in Suites and Haven DSC is not a gratuity . When cruisers use OBC to cover some gratuities , they are giving additional gesture , not the Daily Service Charge. We have done this for room stewards, waiters, butlers and concierges. Go to Guest Services and ask for TIP Voucher , they need name of employee and amount. Those totals are charged to your cabin account. It does use up some of the OBC. Also, sometime during cruise, ask for statement of account, to check for errors. This is easier than waiting until the last day to try and resolve issues.
