moodynight Posted June 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2018 We are going on Celebrity Millenium on November to Japan and one day ship stops in Shanghai. We cannot get a proper answer as to whether we need to fork out for a visa at £214 each just for the one day! Can anyone help, is anyone you know going on this cruise, what are they doing? Thanks
Philob Posted June 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2018 Check the Ports of Call - Asia board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=70 Plenty of discussions about the Chinese visa and people who've been on the Millennium.

If different countries you are fine with the 144hr visa exemption. Sent from my VFD 900 using Tapatalk
moodynight Posted July 1, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted July 1, 2018 Thanks for the info, the port before is in Japan and we go back to Japan afterwards, so looks like one day is gonna cost us over £400 and we are not even bothered about getting off as we have been to Shanghai before!! Doh! The, now, 144 hour visa is only available if you come from one country into China and leave for a 3rd country. You can go back to Japan, and still qualify, IF the cruise stops at another country. And for China, Hong Kong is a different country.
