JollyMia Posted July 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2018 We are sailing the Horizon end of July, when the ship docks back in New York, what time do we leave the ship(we have an evening flight back to the UK) do Carnival have any excursions that will then drop off at JFK Sent from my iPad using Forums
maryred Posted July 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2018 Self-assist debarkation will start as soon as US Customs clears the ship, usually within 15 minutes of docking. Depending on the CD they will announce SA decks top to bottom or bottom to top. Relaxed zone debarkation will start about half way through the SA decks being announced. New York's Manhattan terminal likes to get new passengers to board the ship starting with the wedding party by 10:30am (when the ship is scheduled to dock at 8am or earlier). So they like to have the ship cleared of returning passengers by 9:45am the latest. That does not mean you will clear customs by that time, it just means you will be off the ship by then. Unfortunately NYC is lacking in places to store luggage if you decide to tour anywhere on your own. With JFK being, on a good traffic day, 45-50 minutes from the cruise terminal dropping off your luggage there is not really an option. Carnival usually does offer post cruise excursions of NYC with airport drop off including JFK. There should be listing under excursions on the last day in your cruise manager. Otherwise inquire about what is available once on board. The disembarkation in that case is handled in a special way, almost like relaxed priority. Instructions will either be with the excursion tickets or a separate letter delivered to your cabin a night or 2 before disembarkation.
evandbob Posted July 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2018 We were on the Horizon Memorial Day sailing. As Diamond, the 2nd group boarding, we got on the ship just about 11:30AM. Platinums then began behind us. (Too bad more terminals don't separate the Diamonds from the Platinums. I realize in NY it is strictly a matter of numbers.) For debarkation, with an mid afternoon flight out of LGA, we were given zone 5 tags and were through US Customs by 9:30 or so, and at the airport somewhere around 11 or 11:30AM. Yes, there are post cruise excursions in NYC that the OP can take prior to shuttling to JFK. Enjoy!
winddawn Posted July 7, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 7, 2018 In looking at Carnival's website, it looks like Carnival does not offer any excursions in New York, except for airport transfers to/from the ship for LGA, EWR, and JFK. I'd have a plan B if I were you.
evandbob Posted July 7, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 7, 2018 Thank you Winddawn, I stand corrected about post cruise excursions. For some reason, I thought they had tours of downtown/midtown Manhattan. Appreciate setting me straight!!
