Finally had a butterfly rest long enough for me to take a couple of decent shots

Currently I’m “camping” in my RV at a lake in Illinois. I always enjoy watching the Herons hunting for a meal along the shoreline.

Great pictures everyone.

We actually got to sit outside a couple of days this week.

Still have not been able to get any hummingbird pictures -- 2 feeders -- and the butterflies refuse to sit still.

Family traditions take many forms. Our family isn't really big on traditional traditions and our Birthday Brunches with Christmas and Easter gatherings just about cover the list. I'm not sure whether the trips to Houston to watch the big Marvel movie releases qualifies as a tradition but with so few others, I’m going to call it one. The venue of choice is a former Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, now Cinema Star Grill, located a few minutes from my Son’s house. The ticket prices are half the price of our local AMC and the movie-themed food like the Porky’s Revenge pulled pork topped burger is exceptional. Did I mention the quality beers on tap? Must. Honor. Tradition.

Marvel-ous

Catching up from 3 weeks of photos finally downloaded and sorted, here are a few wildlife shots from the Florida wetlands from July 14th:

A juvenile brown thrasher, having a hot sandbath - it was brutally hot and those sands were probably well over 120 degrees - most seem to think the birds do this to get bugs out of their feathers:

A very red dragonfly doing a handstand:

A very closeup look at a juvenile little blue heron - he still had some white feathers, slowly transitioning over to the adult colors of dusky grey-blue:

A very large, probably very old, green iguana, enjoying some grass out in the sun, and showing off his big long dewlap:

A baby alligator who thought he was hiding under the shade of an overhanging pond apple tree in the mucky water - but the juveniles' little yellow stripes and colors makes them harder to hide from a curious wildlife photographer:

Terry Grant smashed a world record at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, with a two-wheel speed run in the new Range Rover Sport SVR. Terry’s 2:24.5 run up the famous hillclimb broke Terry’s old record for a mile travelled in a car on two wheels, set in 2011, by more than 30 seconds.
