slyster Posted July 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2018 Odd question for you. My dad is legally blind and I noticed cabins will usually have a small coffee table. Maybe it depends on the category type? We have an oceanview cabin reserved on Grandeur next month. I wanted to ask about having the table removed so that we don't risk my dad hitting it or falling over it. He can see just a little bit but he doesn't use a cane or anything. Do we just ask the room steward to remove it or should be make arrangements beforehand? Or maybe someone can confirm the oceanview cabins on grandeur don't have coffee tables :-) Thanks in advance. jpcello Posted July 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2018 If there's a coffee table (or anything else in your way), the cabin steward can remove it.

You cannot make arrangements in advance. We just put ours upside down in the closet. If that does not work for you, ask the stateroom attendant to remove it. slyster Posted July 9, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted July 9, 2018 Oh I hadn't thought about putting it in the closet. Ok, at least we have an option. Thanks!
MM27 Posted July 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2018 I always put it in the closet as I inevitably always walk into it in the dark on my way to the bathroom. Sent from my iPad using Forums
JTBCruiser Posted July 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2018 We move it into the closet and use it as an extra shelf.
MA cruisers Posted July 11, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 11, 2018 We have always asked our room steward to remove the table for us and have never had a problem.

SailingShelley Posted July 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 19, 2018 We have always asked our room steward to remove the table for us and have never had a problem. Usually there is no problem but the last time Cabin attendant made us stow it in the closet taking up valuable shoe storage and long item hanging space! Go Figure! dacsmom Posted July 19, 2018 #10 Share Posted July 19, 2018 I put mine in the closet also, it makes a great extra shelf. Much more useful than as a coffee table.
RCCLNYMETS41 Posted July 20, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Was pleasantly surprised that we did not have the coffee table in our stateroom on Harmony. When we have had it in the past, we also store it in closet or when we had a balcony, there was room between balcony & curtain.
Bloodgem Posted July 20, 2018 #12 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Usually there is no problem but the last time Cabin attendant made us stow it in the closet taking up valuable shoe storage and long item hanging space! Go Figure! My DS is confined to a wheelchair and we always ask for the coffee table to be removed from the cabin. Out of 11 cruises we have only had 1 cabin steward refuse to move the table. We spoke to his supervisor and the table was soon removed.

Interesting  Would that be a fire/safety issue in the hallway? I've never seen a table left out there. :o

Cruisin' Cats Posted July 21, 2018 #18 Share Posted July 21, 2018 I usually move it to the end of the sofa, and put it sideways—to act as a side table.
