ekchippy Posted July 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Can items be purchased with Carnival Gift cards without the purchase showing up on the main bill or will the GC be applied to the final bill?
EllaDuChien Posted July 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Every item will be charged to the main account, then the GC's are applied to the account.
joepeka Posted July 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2018 As mentioned, you will need to have the gift cards applied to your on-board account as credit (either at Guest Services or one of the kiosks), all spending will show up on your account and deducted from your credit balance. joepeka Posted July 19, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2018 One bit of caution for the OP: if you don't think you will spend all the credit you applied with the gift cards (or, near the end of the cruise, you KNOW you won't use up all that credit), and you do not want another gift card as your end of cruise refund, use the "casino method" to cash it out. You can search this board for what that casino method is and how to take advantage of it.
KarimaJ Posted July 19, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2018 Not sure if this applies but I just purchased faster to the fun using a gift card. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
bpkrules Posted July 19, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 19, 2018 Wifey can count the number of beers consumed :). Go to guest service deck. Explain your dilemma and they will open a separate charge account for you. Enjoy your beers!

I was planning on buying a $500 AARP Carnival GC due to their fee rather than buy 4 x $100 cards (which is all I really wanted). When I go to guest services, can I specifically ask that they only use $400 of the $500 on the GC? If the above can't be done and there is a remaining balance (i.e. I don't use the casino method with their fee) what happens to the remained? Won't Carnival issue another GC or could it at least be set aside on my account for use as a deposit on a future cruise with no fee?

You could also use the GC to purchase Cruise Cash before your cruise. Then if you only purchase $400 of Cruise Cash and use the $500 GC to pay, there will still be $100 left on the GC for you to do whatever you want. And you keep the card. Then the $400 is already on your account.
